Getting Ready for Fall

Fall is a glorious time of year with pumpkin patches and hayrides. But with autumn, also comes cooler drier temperatures. This dip in temperatures and humidity can result in your hair becoming frizzy and brittle. Below are some tips for keeping your hair looking great all season long.

  • Moisturize - Just like your skin gets dry and flaky during the winter, your hair becomes dry as well. It is important to use a good conditioner to moisturize your hair.
  • Scalp - Drier, cooler weather can disrupt the PH balance on your scalp causing itching and irritation. Be sure to keep your scalp clean and moisturized.
  • Use Hair Serum Properly - In the fall, do not use hair serums on your roots as the dry air could cause static, only use hair serums from mid-hair to the end of the hair.
  • Sunscreen - Even though there may not be as many hours of sunlight in a day, it is still important to use sunscreen to protect your hair from fading.
  • Add some color to your hair - Go a little darker or add some highlights. Check out our article on coloring a hair system to learn more.
  • Don’t over shampoo - When worn in normal conditions, hair systems only need to be washed every 7-10 days. It is important to not overwash your hair as that can cause it to dry out faster.
  • Clean your styling tools - Your brush, comb, and other styling tools can get dirty from frequent use. Give all your styling tools a good cleaning.
  • Check expiration dates - Check the expiration dates on all your products. Properly discard any products that have expired.
