HD Lace

We offer two variations of full lace bases. The HD 24 has a fine lace base but features very delicate, even finer lace in front to better accommodate lighter densities and allow for a completely natural front appearance. The HD 24A utilizes the same lace material as the HD 24, with reinforced sewing lines and pleats to retain contour.

Features

Lace is a common base material in the hair replacement industry. It’s not the same as decorative lace found on clothing; it is a finely-knit piece of mesh fabric onto which hair is hand-tied to create a hair replacement system. When the lace mesh is applied to your scalp, it blends in, making the hair system undetectable in most cases. To learn more about terminology for various base materials, please see Understanding Base Materials.

We use a fine multifilament polyester or nylon thread knitted into a hexagonal pattern that allows for a natural offset ventilation (the process of tying the hair to the base material). The offset avoids the unnatural “doll’s head” look of hair lined up in perfect rows and columns. Our lace is naturally breathable with plenty of airflow, and allows for easy rinsing of your scalp while wearing the system. For this reason, it’s perfect for those with active lifestyles who perspire a lot, as you can perspire through the base instead of under it. The soft lace is extremely comfortable.

HD Lace systems feature a high definition hairline unless otherwise requested. Knots can be bleached in in the part or all over for a more natural appearance. For short brush-back hairstyles with darker hair we often recommend a re-coloring process in the front, where we ventilate blond hair into the base and then color that hair to your chosen hair color. This avoids the need for knot bleaching in the front and provides a very realistic hairline area, so the hair appears to be naturally growing out of your head even under close scrutiny.

Lace bases can accommodate any hair length, style, wave/curl, and cap size, and up to a medium density. However, hair longer than 10 inches may require lighter densities to avoid excess shedding. Please see the chart below for details.

Lace works well for people who need to place the system behind their growing front hairline and blend the two, or use the system to create a natural-looking front hairline in lieu of a growing one.

HD 24

With an ultra-fine lace front, the HD 24 is our thinnest, most delicate, least detectable lace base. This lace option is for those with front densities on the lighter side, where the hairline is exposed. We consider this base to be disposable — wear it for a month and then replace it. We can ship this base with the tape of your choice pre-applied. However, the best appearance is achieved with liquid adhesive, which allows the lace to disappear into your scalp. Depending on hair length, this base can accommodate light to medium densities.

The HD 24 is not designed for daily removal, as the repeated wear and tear will break down the ultra-fine lace and cause it to fray excessively.

HD 24A

The HD 24A provides all the same benefits as the HD 24, but does not have the ultra-fine lace front, making it more durable and able to accommodate higher densities in the front (up to a medium density). This base cannot accommodate clips.
