step one

Step One

Mixing the correct formula

For black, dark brown, medium brown, light brown and dark blonde hair use 3/4 oz. color solution, 3/4 oz. drabber and 1 oz. developer into a plastic or glass container.

For medium blonde, light blonde and very light blonde hair use 3/4 oz. color solution, 1/4 oz. drabber and 1 oz. developer into a plastic or glass container.

Make sure you're wearing rubber or latex gloves! Then using your fingers, thoroughly mix the coloring solutions together inside the container.

Once all three solutions are mixed in together, add approximately 6 oz. of hot tap water into the container.

quick tip

Quick Tip: Our professional coloring kit includes enough solution for up to 4 colorings. For each coloring, you only need approximately 1/4 of the included developer and about 1/2 of the color and drabber solutions (our kit includes 2 bottles of each).

Step Two

Dipping Your Hair System

After the solution is mixed together you can begin dipping your hair system into the container to begin the coloring.

In order to accomplish a graduated color (darker at the bottom and lighter on the front and top), start by dipping the back of the unit into the solution first, then wet the sides and ends.

After 1 to 3 minutes, do a color check by taking a section of hair between your thumb and finger and squeeze out the moisture. Now examine the squeezed area to see if the color is what you want. Keep in mind the hair will be lighter after it is dry.

Keep checking the color level by squeezing out the moisture as you did at the start of this procedure. Once you have the entire unit covered with the solution, remove the unit from the chemical holding container as the chemical on the hair needs oxygen as a catalyst to make it perform.

Step Three

Rinsing Your Hair System

Once the desired color has been reached and after you remove your hair system from the coloring solution it's vital that you first rinse it thoroughly in warm tap water.

After rinsing, you can then shampoo the system using a very mild shampoo. For best results, we strongly recommend using our Pro Touch Replenishing Shampoo; this shampoo is specially formulated with a non-stripping agent for use on chemically treated, growing, and non-growing (hair systems) hair.

After you're done shampooing the system, rinse it out one more time.

Step Four

Blotting Your Hair System

You're almost finished! Once you have rinsed, shampooed and re-rinsed your hair system, use a clean, dry towel and gently "blot" dry the hair.

While the system is still damp, attach it to your scalp.

Once the system is attached, spray on a light mist of a leave-in conditioner. For best results, we recommend the Pro Touch Spray On Leave In Conditioner as it’s just the right formulation, not too thick and heavy.

If you use a thick conditioner, one that needs to be rinsed out, it will cause the hair knots at the base to slip and the end result is hair loss. Pro Touch will do the intended job and not set the hair up for potential hair loss.

Now you are ready to brush the hair into your desired style. Allow to air dry or blow dry.

The color of your hair replacement system should now be restored to its original luster. If you have problems during this process or did not achieve the desired effect, please call us toll-free at 1-800-424-7436 or email us anytime.

quick tip

Quick Tip: For the purpose of these instructions we used a Styrofoam head. However, for best results the direction styling should be done while the unit is attached to your head.
