I'm 36 and have been dealing with hairloss since around age 16. When I was 16, I went through a period of "extreme weight loss" followed by a major hair shedding. That quickly snaped me out of my diet fad. However, that experience seemed to trigger what I thought for years was a diet-induced hair problem. We are greek in my family, so "everyone" has thick hair. For years I have endured the constant advice of others of "needing" more vitamins or more fat. However, as it turns out, my real problem is that I have androgenic alopecia (female pattern baldmess). It is not in its final stages (yet), but I can no longer wear my hair the way I want to & have started using dermatch powder products. To complicate matters worse is that I have been having/chosing to wear my hair up in a clip (more days than not) for about 2 years b/c of how thin/fly-away it is. The clip may be doing more harm that good....helping to break/damage the split ends, etc...such that....now my *new problem* seems more to be how damaged my hair looks from the bottom/ends up through about 6 inches....so, now my *new challenge* is to figure out how to "repair" this problem versus just going ahead & getting a full cap system....the inevitable.
