You would have to cut individual hair knots from the bottom of the unit using a pointy hobby knife, and a magnifying glass.  I think it would be very tedious and time-consuming. I would look up a local hair replacement salon in your area and see if they would do it for you, for a nominal fee?

If I feel a persistent itch of any kind, I just try to ignore it and it should eventually go away on it's own.  I believe itching an itch will cause it to itch more.
