very light, light, medium light, medium, etc- could someone tell me how these compare to 80%, 70% 60%, etc.?

  • Re: hair density

    Hi fslone,

The density of our systems is measured by hairs per square centimeter of a system. So if you were to order a medium light density of 100%, the system would have 100 hairs vented into the system per square centimeter.

So...60% is considered to be light density, med.light - 100%, medium - 120% and heavy is 150% and over.

I hope that this has help with the confusion just a little bitSmile [:)]

    Good morning,

We determine our density by the square centimeter so for us we consider the 60% to be a Light density, 100% is a Medium Light, 120% to be a Medium density and really anything over 130% to be a heavy.

We would consider the 60%, 70% and the 80% to be a light density. Keep in mind you can do different density in diffferent areas so that it is the perfect density all over.

If you would like to speak to a hair technician you can reach us at 1-800-424-7436 and we will be happy to go over the differences.

I have my units with 55% density and that is more than a full head of hair.50% was too light, 65% was too full. Especially since I am 34 yrs.old and really thick hair would look fake. I wear all lace dispose units, color 1b, straight hair, I cut it with my Robo and it is very easy. I am switching to very thin poly sides and back for easy removal and bonding. I get 2 new systems every 4 months and they are the best! After 6 weeks of wear, the lace front is worn out so I recommend you replace often. Here is a pic of my HD 55% unit. As you can see, full head of hair.

    Hey Mr B.

Think your hair looks really great!!

I'm still struggling a little to get the density right. I think mine looks pretty natural everywhere except the crown area where I think it looks too thick, but I have an HD24 with HD Hollywood front and microskin perimeter and have a fear that this will show through if I reduce density too much.

I'm heading (no pun intended) in the opposite direction to you as my next order is for full lace, so maybe then I can reduce density in this area.

    Yours looks totally natural

hi...great pics ? any more..and with density..im thinking..if you wear hair with gel or real wet..tis thins out hair even more..so should i not go to light ? more gel= more breakage = more scalp shown

    thank you !

    Mr. B,

Your hair looks totally natural in front. I'd never know you had a system at all. I agree that hair density is really important. Too often I've had units made and the thickness just made it look wiggy and fake; my stylist never wants to make my unit the way I want with a lighter density and grumbles when I say it's too heavy (it actually makes my head lean) so he won't cut/thin it either.

For these reasons, I'm looking for another systems and saw HD. Your photo and comments helped me understand that there are people who listen and what I want can be achieved.

    Thanks for sharing.

Your math doesn't quite work out here. Mr. Bald wrote:

Being there are 4.3 weeks in a month, every two months would be about 9 weeks.  You say the lace wears out in about 6 weeks.  Do you wear the unit for 3 weeks after it has worn out after 6 weeks?  Just want to get an understanding of what you mean here.

  • Re: hair density

this is great information except your website, under learning, says that 100 is medium density and that 50 is light. Which is true?

    Hey Barnaby Jones,

I don't think he was being literal.... my lace wears out but i can still wear for an extra couple weeks till new one comes...
