Hey folks,
I just had my system bonded by a lady not far from me who has been in the business for 25 years. She used to specialise in systems for cancer patients. She gave me a lot of advice largely things I already knew but im so confused about the bonding process lol.
She performed the cleaning etc perfect using mud mask shampoo conditioner . She attatched red liner tape to my system around the sides and the back and used no shine tape at the front . Ultrahold was used all around the perimeter twice with an interval. I arrived home and the front just lifted along with the sides.
So as usual I peeled it at the front and one side took the tape off carefully cleaned it liberally and just coated 2 coats of ultrahold. Its sticking so far.
Has anyone else had problems with red liner tape? Im thinking to just use ultrahold all over and forget about tapes?
Im glad i have found ultrahold as at least it gives me four days without having to worry.

Hi riolazarius,
Sometimes the red tape does have a hard time sticking to certain bases. If the base material is too thick, the red tape will not hold as it does not have enough tack. If this happens, I would suggest trying another tape with a higher tack to it.
Thank you

Hey Christie
How are you? We still have to meet when I make my pilgrimage over to harrisburg lol
The front is lace and the rest is poly watever thing. Im guessing too that red liner tape is not working. Can you suggest an alternative?
BTW Is it Thanksgiving today? Im outta connection across the pond and family away in south africa for vacation
Thanks
Hello.
I am doing well, thank you for asking and I hope you are doing well too.
I would suggest the Blue Lace Tape. This should have enough tack to it to stick. You could also use any of the other tapes that are meant for more than a 3 day hold.
I hope this helps.
Oh and Thanksgiving in next Thursday!!
Have a nice day.
Thanks christie for that info. Im still having so many dire problems bonding but slowly getting better. Im still trying to organise a whole mnth off to come and stay nearby so i can visit u guys for bonding services and find out the best option for me .

Having read Rio's experience with the red liner tape, I am now worried about using it. I ordered some day before yesterday, with the intent of placing it on the poly and front lace of my unit and then placing supertape on top of the red liner. I was told using red liner, followed by a tape with longer hold will work great in reducing the amount of clean up time (red tape would protect the poly from the supertape melt down from my body chemistry. Is this right... will this work that way?
John
Hey encouraged.
Try not to worry, different people react differently to bonding methods as you are probably aware off. I have a chronic bonding problem which has gotten slightly better giving me a good four days but all these three years I have never used red liner tape thus having no issues with the back or the sides towards the back.
When I had it done the first time with red liner 3 weeks ago the front lifted with in 6 hours which i managed to ultrahold it down to the scalp and then the back just lifted after ten days which never happens to me lol.
The tape was still sticking to the poly permimeter and the lace but didnt conform with the ultrahold. So at least it sticks to the unit but not the scalp. So it must be the combination with the adhesive. My tech told me this yesterday when i went in to get it rebonded. It lifted within 2 hours all around . I phoned her and she assumed it was the red liner tape. Even no shine didnt work for me at the front.
So im going to stick to regular blue tape and ultrahold or even just ultrahold the scalp and no tapes.
I would ask you to try that method with the red liner tape. im not sure what adhesive you are using but at least you will find out with trial and error.
Encouraged,
The Red Liner Tape will stick to the poly but not to the lace. It isn't tacky enough for the lace. When used on the poly as a liner for Supertape, it will make your clean up much faster, so you can use it there. You may have to use the Blue Tape for the lace.

Hi John-
Yes, only use red liner tape on the poly, not on the lace. It speeds up cleanup by 1000%. I'm pretty sure that red liner tape alone is only recommended for a 1-2 day hold if used alone.
