Hi Sue
First of all, I really appreciate all your posts, you help a lot of us with your knowledge and it is so great that you share your information with us.
I just changed from tape in front to SafeGrip. Not working. This adhesive is not holding at all. I wanted to stop using tape in front because I get a "bandage" look and have to wear bangs to conceal it. Now I dread taking this system off because it probably will be a mess trying to remove the adhesive from my scalp! I just do not have the patience for it I am afraid! I could try another adhesive but can't make up my mind about it. I had been having HD apply the front tape because I have a problem with alignment (poor vision) so I might have to go back to that.
When you clean your system do you use shampoo and conditioner or just the Dawn Soap? I was under the impression that in order to have the adhesive/tape stick well just the Dawn Soap should be used.
Before you apply glue/tape do you completely dry your system?
Your curly hair looks beautiful! I have been wearing my hair rather short but now have ordered longer hair because I need the coverage. My growing hair around the sides and back is very thin and I am tired of dealing with it. So my new style will come down to about the middle of my neck and layered somewhat. I am quite up in age so long hair like yours and the other gals that post their pictures would look pretty ridiculous on me!
Thank you so much for all your input! You really know your stuff!

Hi there--
Yes, experimenting with adhesives can get frustrating. I'm sorry SafeGrip is not working out for you. Are you carefully cleaning the base and your head with dish soap to remove all traces of oils? I can only get about a 4-day tight hold with SafeGrip.
What kind of base to you have?
When I clean my lace system, I use Dawn dish soap on the base to cut the oil from the C22 solvent. Then I use shampoo right through the base similar to how Hairlady does in this video (you can ignore the baking soda stuff for the purposes of this post and skip to 5:00 minutes into the base). I do not condition this way. I flip the unit right side out after washing and finger comb conditioner along the lengths of the hair and just pat some on the top part of the unit. Always rinse through the base with the underside of the base facing up. Always rinse really thoroughly. The base must be completely dry before taping or glue but the hair can still be a little wet. The base dries quicker than the hair usually.
Hope that helps!
Sue
Thank you Sue!
I had only been using the Dawn when I receive the unit. Now I know I can also shampoo and condition!
I don't remember what base I have, its lace at front and poly on sides and back.
Do you use tape on front or liquid?? It looks like I will be going back to tape, I might experiment with the two units I have now and make up my mind before my next two ship, in case I need HD to apply front tape.
Thanks again
Hi Nellie--
I've used both tape and glue but I prefer tape. Maybe I don't get the hard edge you talk about because I still use a thin section of my own bangs and the units sits right behind them. The tape gives me a full week bond whereas the SafeGrip only gave me about 4 days. Babe uses tape with about a 1/4" of glue along the edge of the lace so she gets the hold of tape and the look of glue. Maybe that would work for you. I didn't care for that method because it didn't look any better for me and lifted too soon.
