KLD,
First, please contact me at donaldt4@verizon.net if you have any questions, comments, want more information, etc. I have no problem being an example to you on behalf of HD. You can contact me either on this community message board or my personal e-mail. If you feel that you need more privacy at this time, by all means, don't hesitate to contact me at donalt4@verizon.net and i will understand and can relate, as well.
I usually write or post on the "community" board, too, but i missed yours. It looks like you posted on the "Forum" section. My apologies...
I've been with HD since February 2009 and i received my first HD24 full lace unit on May 15, 2009 and as of today, august 30, 2009, i'm still amazed at my units and the human hair that i have and the most important for me is the undetectability and seamless look, and people still doesn't notice even if i tell them.
Now that is something to brag about!
I'm one of those people just like a lot of of men and women who have had or have chronic hair loss and for the last 10 plus years i have been using www.toppik.com products to cover up and create DAILY illusions, being in my bathroom everyone morning trying to look like i had some hair left, in order to meet and greet the world of work and my active social lifestyle. But i have been losing my topical hair since my mid 30s.
i too found HD this year and i will be 60 years old on jan 4, so it is never too late to look one's best and feel another sense of higher self esteem and a whole new outlook on life, once more. I just refused to go bald, naturally, so i did whatever i had to do to keep the illusion and i performed that task for almost 15 plus years!
i even joined my local gym for the first time! I use to be a life guard and swimming is one of my passions, but since i have been losing my topical hair, i cut back on a lot of my social activities when it came to "covering" up my defects and swimming was one of them because i couldn't swim anymore UNDER water without my topical products washing away.
So i researched and found HD only this year and look at me now! You saw my photos (before and after), but i do have to be honest, too. My hair systems are a FINANCIAL INVESTMENT and i have a "standing order plan" for 8 a year plan and with that said, i have to treat my units with the utmost care because they are NOT attached to anyone's scalp anymore, and since they are human hair, one has to remove, clean, shave, and reattach and condition our units to last as long as one care for them. For me, i rather have LESS maintenance so i'm on the 8 a year plan.
Buying one unit is NOT to anyone's advantage, in my opinion, only because one unit will not last forever and they were not custom made to, either. Some HD hair wearers have a 12 a year plan, one a month. I get 2 every 3 months. It all depends on your financial situation and what is important to your needs, your work, social lifestyle, etc.
Please explore the ENTIRE HD site. Also check out the HD Learning Center section.
Some of us perform our maintenance on a weekly basis, like myself, and others every 2 weeks, or once a month. But again, i don't want to go on too long because those who know me knows how i can "talk" or "write" long messages on this board.

For me, i had a choice to go up to PA (their headquarters) because i didn't think that HD would be able to work with my hair texture simply because my hair wasn't straight.
But the "proof is in the pudding" as that say and look at me now, thanks to HD and their skills and expertise in measuring, and recommending which type of hair would MATCH my own.
So i'm a living example that not only hair that is straight, HD can accommodate those of us that have course, close cropped, hair that is curly, wavy, not straight, basically.
Again, i never saw your message under the "latest thread" before, but someone else on the community forum, sent me a board message.
For a little history, i too had asked for another person that looks like me or an african american back when i first posted a message on this community board. I felt that same way about wanting to have someone that "look" like me or have the same hair texture, so i can be assured that HD could custom design a system for my type of texture, too.
But that never happened and no African American male ever responded. that didn't stop me because other folks on the board that had straight hair helped me more than i could imagined, simply because we are all in the same boat about hair loss, and this is all about "feelings" of loss, self esteem issues, etc, not just about ethnicity, even though it plays a vital role, but if i didn't have an OPEN MIND, i would have never stayed with HD.
So i have told so many on this board and the owner, Bill, that i'm the unofficial "poster kid" for men that don't have straight hair! and i'm happy to help you in any way i can.
I'm writing too much now, so contact me either through my personal e-mail or on the community board.
Take care,
-Donald
