Hey Guys,
Before I order my first full lace system, I'm just wondering how comfortable (as in "flush to your head") it feels using a perimiter tape bond with a glue hairline?
I've been thinking about it for a while, it would suit my lifestyle more than my present poly base with lace front. And on the subject of poly units -- does anyone else get that scratchy sound that occurs when you run your hands through your hair if there's a little growth under the poly? Man, it drives me nuts!!! Tell it's less so with a full lace base..?
Peace!
THG
Hey Hair Guy -
I am gathering from your post you are moving from a poly perimiter to full lace perimiter. I have always taped the perimiter and yes it is perfectly flush down to the scalp. The scratchy sound, yes can still be present will full lace but maybe not as much. Glueing the whole thing would solve that 100% however.

Hey Brian,
Thanks for the reply! actually, I wanted to move over to the full lace so that I don't have to glue the entire area down - I really need a speedy clean up time, as it's taking forever at the minute - so I'm thinking a tape perimeter should solve that. I hope! I guess with the tape system I'll be doing maintenance every 2 weeks or so, which I guess should also help with the regrowth/sound problem. Cool!
Hey THG,
Sorry, I had to snicker at your description of the scratching noise. I call that the "hollow scratch"!!! I am right with you, I used to HATE that sound. I can tell you that it's much less with the lace than it is with the poly. For some reason, when there is a lift in the poly, it leaves a hollow area between the poly and your scalp. Then when you scratch where the poly is lifted, it makes that horrid sound! Not so much with the lace since it doesn't have the poly to trap the hair and create the "hollow scratch". You would get rid of it by using adhesive on the entire unit, but you'd spend three years in the bathroom for each de/re! You know what I mean!!!
When you change to a de/re every week to 10 days, you will find that you will have a very speedy cleanup and reattach. Not only that, but you will eliminate the dreaded "hollow scratch"!
Good luck to you and thanks for the giggle!

Not born with hair, but I've gotthe intelligence to find it, the money to pay for it, the patience to "stick" it on just right, the will to make it work, the confidence to wear it boldlyand the smile to wear under it!
The Hair Guy,
In my case, i have the HD24 full Hollywood lace unit, simply because i didn't want too much cleanup and maintenance, even though i know there will be some, because these are hair systems, that are not attached.
For me, and my own experiences so far, i found that the liquid adhesive for my frontal was "lifting" somewhat, thus i switched to tapes because i was NOT "have it"!
Anyway, i now uses Walker no-shine tape for my entire unit perimeter and i'm quite pleased. I originally used supertape for the side and back perimeters and liquid for the front on my lace, as a lot of people still do, but for me, i had to change because of body chemistry, or some tapes or liquid adhesives may or may not hold properly, but one wouldn't know unless one try them.
So i did, and for now, i'm using the Walker tapes, which is just as good as the super tape, for me. I have a lifestyle that includes going swimming at my local gym, (but i do use a full silicone swimming cap). I need to be real about my financial investment and that my unit is just that a hair system with human hair, but no longer attached to a scalp, thus the care and plenty of leave-in conditioner.
I wear my unit with complete tape bonding, for about 7-10 days only, and as others has stated, the LESS weeks you wear your unit, the LESS maintenance will be involved, as i found out through my own experience, too.
Therefore, i go no longer than 10 day of less, and if i do go any further, i have to understand that it will take longer for cleanup, simply because of the adhesives and tapes are "breaking down" as time goes on, thus the harder it will be to clean, especially since the "breakdown" will also be in the lace, along with being on the scalp, too!
Lastly, i've had itching problems with a tape called super tape and i read that others did too. That is why, through this type of forum, it was recommended to try Walker no-shine and i did and it greatly minimized the itching, but not eliminated it all together.
That problem is something i'm still exploring to find out why, and i just don't want to think it may be the lace that is causing my itch, since when i take it off for maintenance, i don't have an itch at all. So i may be in denial about my lace since i love the undetectability of the HD24 and the high definition and other features.
But i will check on this board and search out if anyone has the same thoughts about their lace and itching. Otherwise, i enjoy my unit and i'm so happy that i found HD.
This whole experience is much better than when i was using toppik.com products called concealers and courve masking lotions and had to clean and changed the hair fibers on a DAILY basis, so a little itching when i compare to what i've been through for these last 10 plus years, i'm quite satisfied. I just need to remind myself, sometimes of the troubles and embarrassments that i used to go through.
If you get a chance, check out the HD photo gallery, and i'm on there under "donaldt", among other hair wearers from HD.
Enough out of me, for now!

Hey, thanks for the reply - I remember this one time I was having dinner with a group of family members, and I had this itch (on my head...!), so I discreetly start to scratch it. The next thing I know, everyone is looking around, confused-freaked faces on - they thought the dog had got in, and was busy scratching himself! Tres amusant, no? I just went with it...

Hey, thanks for your (rather epic and totally-not-overwhelming-honest) post! I've been following your hair journey since you first posted on these boards, and I've seen your pics - they look fantastic, seriously - there are so many bad system pics with oddly overly-enthusiastic comments attached - well, your's deserves the flattery, you're hair looks great!
Peace! :-)
...oh, and Donald? If I could write with as much enthusiasm as you, I'd have written six novels by now!! ;)
