Bleaching Knots - any suggestions?

  • Bleaching Knots - any suggestions?

    Hi everyone

My last few hair systems have had virtually none of the knots bleached out.

I phoned HD today to discuss rectifying this and I understand this isn't possible as there's an industry wide problem at the moment in bleaching knots as they wanted to stop hair oxidisation which is aggravated by knot bleaching?

Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, any suggestions on how to address this? I know you can bleach the knots out yourself although I understand this weakens the hair causing it to break off easily.

    Thanks

    Hey Born Again,

I just received a new HD24 today and the knots are perfectly bleached.  I can't believe they told you that?

What base style do you have?

I'd like to hear more about this too... it makes me concerned about my very first unit still to come however maybe it depends on the base? Hmmm.

It depends on the color of hair you get, the density, and the base material used. The darker, and thicker the hair...the harder it is going to be to bleach every knot...and you are right in order to slow down fading, the colors have an ash base...ash is VERY hard to bleach. We are working on this, as it is a big concern of every hair wearer.

It was my understanding, according to Bill's blog, that those of us with mostly dark hair will be able to have virtually invisible knots.  This will be accomplished by using blond hair on the front hairline, or anywhere the knots will show,  then dying that hair dark down to the knots, leaving them blond.  Am I correct?Confused

My knots have never come completely bleached. I usually do one full bleaching of the base first thing. Although this still leaves a few stubborn knots i make sure the crown and the front are pretty much flawless. Using back2natural to close to the base will result in needing rebleaching. One hit is as soon as you bleached the knots, seal them as soon as you can.

Bill is working on a new technique, it is using a blonde color instead of using bleach. The knots look completely invisible and it pretty much colors every single knot. But we are still working on the perfect formula before we roll it out, so that we don't get any mistakes! It is harder to lift the color out of dark knots, and you have to leave the bleach on longer ( which results in weaker knots). If you recieve a system and you feel that the knots are not light enough, you can send the system in and we can bleach the knots here at HD. It usually takes us about a week to get the unit back out to you. I agree with using knot sealer to help keep them stronger longer! Yes

    Thanks everyone for your posts.

I'm pleased to read that HD are responding to this problem and have come up with a solution.

I look forward with great interest to the eventual results and posting my comments. Hopefully that won't be too long.

    Hi HD,

Any further word or progress with this? I'm really looking forward to getting my next unit with this process being done. Unfortunately my first unit did not have the knots bleached.

    Thanks,
