Hair density question

What are the hair densities with HD?  Is medium light 60-65% Is medium 70%??.  Not sure how to gauge the densities here.  What's a good density for a guy that doesn't want the balding look or the thinning look but  also doesn't want a fake looking wad of hair?

    Hi Goose

Our densitys are extra light 40, light 60, medium light 100 and medium 120, anything over that would be considered as heavy. This hairs is per square centimeter. Remenber you can also pick somewhere in between these numbers as well. You can also have deifferent densitys on different parts of your unit as well.

I always think less is better because too much hair looks like a wig. Two thinks to consider are your age and what is the density you want to blend the hair on the unit into. I hope this helps you.Smile

    Hey Goose! And welcome!

I am not the foremost authority on density issues as I am pretty new to all of this myself, but I have to agree with Cindy, less is better. I am 28 years old and ordered my unit as a medium light as I figured that would be good for me, but as soon as I received the unit I knew I had been too greedy. I thought when I ordered it that since I was so young, a medium light (which I understand is the density a lot of guys my age go with), would be perfect, but it turned out to be way too much hair to blend with my own density. I contacted my hair tech and immediately decided to have it thinned out to an extra light, the difference was that big. But that's just how it was in my case. Keep in mind what Cindy said, consider your age and your own hair's density, and don't be like me; greedy. You want the hair to blend and not sit "on top" of your own hair. Another thing you could do is to consult with an HD hair tech and maybe send them a couple of pictures of yourself, to help determine your density. Just and idea... And good luck!

    Hello Goose,

As RCLAR said, sending a picture of yourself is a great help!  Also, if you look in the hairstyle gallery you can use those pictures as a reference for density as well as the haircut. Yes

    Hi Goose,

By your nickname, I am assuming that you're a guy.  Wink

One other thing to consider is the length of your hair.  Right now, military cuts (or very short hair) are all the rage with guys.  If you're planning on wearing short hair, it's better to keep it medium density (in my opinion), as it makes it easier to hide the base, attachment tape, etc.  I wear the HD025 hair style, which is around an 1" long -- and nobody knows that it's a hair system.  It looks 100% believable.

However, if you are planning on having longer hair, then light density is the best option.
