  • Hi there Ladies

I am new here. Let me start by tell all of you about me.  I am 54 yrs.old and I am a MtF transsexual in transition.  I have virtual no hair on the top of my head and I really want a good system that I can treat as my own hair.  I have worn wigs for a while now, but I an not happy because I can't swim in them nor can I sleep in them.  I am afraid in high wind, which can be a pain because I love my motorcycle.  I have been hang around here reading the posts and looking at the pics.  I must say that I am impressed so far.  But I want to get around the typical ads and commercials that the web site has .  Not that they are bad, but I need hard information before I commit my money into something that is not what I am needing.  So I am asking actual customers, and please be honest, this is my life that I am concerned with.  My questions are:

1 Are you satisfied with your hair?

2 Is it really something that I do not have to remove every night?

3 I do not mind shaving my head if that is the best way to attach the system.  Is shaving the best method for attachment or should I let a little stubble?

4 Does it really look and feel real?

5 Most importantly, can I treat it like real hair? Ponytails, Put it up on top of my head, Cut, Style, Color?

    Thank You for your information,

    Janet Lynn

I am ready to cry.  I can not find out the information I need.  I read and reread the post here and I am total at a loss as to what to do.   I can not afford to experiment with a system.   Any extra money I have is going into my SRS surgery.  I only wish to know from actually users if this system is worth my money.  The guys all seem to be happy, but then again they are guys with different needs than us.  I keep looking at Hairlady's and Deborah's Before and After photos and I can see that I maybe happy with this system.  But I have tried different things, not just hair and been very unhappy with the results.  Every dime I spend on something that isn't what I need is another dime I don't have for the big one, surgery.

I get lost trying to figure out what is what. This a big decision and I need input.  I  only choose my surgery after talking with other patients.  I hate to say this but I am desperate.

    Please help.

    Janet Lynn,

I can sympathize with your "hair obsession"....I have it too!  I have been wearing a system from another company (I just recieved my first HD unit, but will have to sent it back.  That's another story, tho.) for almost 5 years.  I have to say, it has been the best investment in my self image and well being that I've ever made.  The unit "becomes" your own hair, to style as you please.  I don't have a full cap, so I can't pull it up, since my own hair would show in the back and it's too thin to cover the unit's edge.  I do wear bangs and that softens the look of the front edge.  I wear a standard type base with poly edge all around.  I know from read all these posts that the lace front and all lace units are more realistic for pulling your hair back off the forehead, but they are also more delicate and don't last as long.

I think hair for a woman is one of the most important things for enhancing our femininity.  I know from past experience that no matter how great you look otherwise, your hair is the thing people's eyes always gravitate to.  It is definitely worth the investment, even if you have to sacrifice something else, say, Botox, for instance!!!Wink

Hand in there, hope this helps a little.  You are not alone out there!

    Hi Janet_Lynn,

I know that you would like to hear from other hair wearers but, I really felt the need to jump in and let you know that you would not be wasting any needed money! We have a 100% 30 day unconditional guarantee that we take very seriously and stand behind 100%!

The only cost that you would incur is the shipping charge. Otherwise we will remake the system or refund the purchase price of the system for any reason if you are not 100% satisfied.

I hope that this puts your mind at ease a littleWink.

Hi Janet.  I will try to answer some of your questions.

I have been wearing hair for over 12 years now.  Yes, it is correct that you do not have to remove it every night.  I leave my system attached for about 3 weeks at a time.  I do have to touch up the very front a few times because it seems the front always wants to lift a little.

I have never shaved my hair off.  I do clip my hair short where the base is attached.  I wear a "topper", not a full cap.  I am afraid to shave because I am afraid that it might irritate my scalp.  I have had good attachments without shaving.

I only wear remy hair and yes, it looks and feels real because it is real!  I order my hair 14" long and when I receive the system I usually trim off an inch, do my own bangs, and really, I look very good and very natural.  It does take patience to learn how to do this i.e., detach and re-attach.  But, once you get it down, you'll be so happy.  I suggest you read the "Learn" section of this website over and over.  However, until you actually do the "hands on" yourself, it will be kind of foggy to you.  At least it was for me.

For the first 10 years of my hair replacement I went to a salon but had to travel 2 1/2 to 3 hours for each visit.  I have never been happier than being able to do my own hair.  But, you might want to consider finding someone in your area to help you get started.

I have never colored my system as I have my color matched when I order the system.  There is a product, ADF color conditioner though that I use to help maintain my color.  Just google "ADF hair conditioner" and you should come up with their website.

I don't put my hair in a pony tail because I don't think it looks natural.  I believe for long hair to look natural in a pony tail you need to be more specific about the percentage of hair in the front hairline and working back to the rest of the hair.  I believe that Babe with a Mane or Hairlady can help you with this.

    Good luck to you.

Thank you Lady In Red and Blonde12,

I am learning so much that I think I can now make an informed decision.   Any other infromation from the other ladies would be helpful.

Thank you to the hair techs for their input also.  I am still looking at the site and hope to make a decision soon.  I have a couple of financial issues to settle before I make a firm decision.   But if I wind up being a customer and are happy with the results.   There will be a flood of my sisters come here.

Please contine to post with your experences.

Any and all comments are welcomed and I thank you for those in advance.

    Now smiling,

    Janet

    Hi Janet-Lynn,

    http://www.hairdirect.com/photos/before-after/catherine.aspx

You've definitely come to the right place. The group here is one of the best for help and advice. The link above will take you to my photos in the gallery.  I do everything anyone with growing hair would do.  My unit is full lace and I use SuperTape as my bond.  My hair is a little lighter now and a little longer, so I have to update my photos, but you'll get the idea.  I also do a nearly full head shave which facilitates the bond.

I try to get over here as often as possible but not nearly as often as I would like since the grandkids came to live with us. *whew!*

Welcome aboard.  HD will take very, very good care of you!

OMG,  Hairlady you are the reason I am here looking.  I love your before and after.  I would like to know what base and density you are using.  And how often you do you have to clean your unit for adhesive.  Still working on my financial situation, but I am differentially going with HD.

And seeing that you have your grandkids,  you don't have much down time for maintenance.

Thank You so much for the information.  Once I can get the financials taken care of, I am all there.   I received very good news today from my work.  They do not have a problem with me going to start living full time as a woman, including my job.  And this system looks to meet my needs.

I am so looking forward to starting with the system.

    Agian Thank You so much.

    Hi Janet_Lynn,

Yes, you can wear your hair in ponytails and buns...I do it all the time!  Yes, you need to order a matching density with the hair you currently have, but I can assure you that it looks great!

The hair feels just like real hair...it is real hair...matter of fact, the HD hair is better than my own natural hair. I have never experienced any "itching" but I know it is all dependent on your body's reaction.

As far as your concern about spending this amount of money, I can only say that it is the first time I didn't waste my hard earned money. Nothing else ever looked quite right, felt right nor did any of them give me confidence. Now? I don't think about my hair unless I have to complete a re-do...and that is an incredible feeling!

    Welcome to HD...

    Thank you so much Babe,

I am sure that I will enjoy having my own hair, even if it is bought and paid for.Wink

I have read some of your blogs and I can see that you are one happy lady.
