Question for Mary

  • Question for Mary

Mary, I was looking at your pictures on the site and your system looks kind of like what I would need. However, I would need to clip in the front instead of tape. What kind of base do you use and what density? Does yours come with bangs cut-in? Also, are you able to part your hair on the top? I always wear my hair with a straight part. How realistic is the front hairline?

Thanks for all of your help! I am new at this hair loss crap and can't figure out what to get. I have no one to talk to about it because at 27, it's not like my friends are going through this too!

    Hi Joy,

Just wanted to clarify with you. Are you referring to Mary in the before and after gallery or Mary from our Hair Tech page ?

    Thanks!

    Hi Joy,
I will help you as much as I can. have you ordered anything yet?
It does feel overwelming to get started. So many choices to make regarding style, texture, bases etc.
I wear a partial hair piece that isn't an integration type. It is straight and the fringes of my own hair are seen esp. at the back which makes a difference as to how natural it looks. I sent a sample of my hair in so color match was very good.
When I go to a new stylist, I get surprised looks when I tell them that I need just my own hair trimmed and not the hairpiece!
If you go to the before/after photo page of me you will see that on the right side column it tells what hair density I ordered, the type of base, etc. density is med/light and base is full New York lace.
Diane is my HD rep and answers questions when I have them. call toll free! I do kind of wish that I would have gotten my latest piece with a bit of wave to it. In my opinion, It is a bit easier to style. Wigs look more natural when they don't look like every hair is in place but rather a slight touseled look. Let me know how it works. The style number that is shown is WD40. The bangs did get trimmed somewhat by my stylist. Mary

Hi Mary, I haven't ordered yet. Me and my hair rep have been playing phone tag all week. I am hoping I can get this taken care of tomorrow. I was thinking of ordering the hair type called "bend". Is this what you have? Also, how does the part look on your piece? If you were to part it in the middle over your existing hair would it look okay? I am worried because since I do have hair, the piece will be over my dark brown hair. I am scared that will make the lace look bad. Thanks for answering!

    Joy,

Hopefully I can help you out a little. Stick out tongue When you say hairtype "bend" do you mean the wave/curl pattern? A light bend for the wave/curl pattern is pretty much just straight with a little more movement to it. I usually suggest this to my customers because it has more of a natural look to it.

You want to make sure that you do have a skin or a poly perimeter around where you are going to be clipping. If it is all lace, it isn't going to be able to hold up the clips.

If I can help you further, just let me know or you can always email me at: Bretina@hairdirect.com

    Hi Joy,
Sorry it took so long to reply. I was on vacation. I think you would be smart to order the slight bend for body in the hair piece. Is your own hair real straight? (That should be a determining factor if it will show much at the ends)
Once the piece has been washed you can put it on while damp and put the part where you want it and I usually try to move the hair (comb and fingers) where I want it to go while still damp and on my head....then I remove it and put it on a wigstand to dry. At this point it is also possible to put curlers and use styling products too. I don't use styling products much though and in the photos, no extra curls either.
Having a part in the hairpiece shouldn't show the lace over your dark hair. Mine dosen't.    Mary
