Hi Emerymiller,
I read your post and I'm hoping I can help you out.
We have actually been told by the manufacturer that you should use just the supertape alone. (You don't have to, but that's what we have been told.
How long do you usually wear the supertape for? Also, what type of adhesive remover are you using?

Hey Emerymiller,
Contrary to the name - No Messy Residue, it does tend to break down messy when used for extended wear. Supertape is still our top seller for extended wear tapes. Depending on how long you leave the system on and how much it breaks down, you may need to let the it soak longer. You can soak the system for 1 hour to overnight. It will not harm the system. When you are soaking the system, you should only have to pour a 1/2" or so into a container to soak it. You only need to cover the base where the tape or adhesive is, do not cover the entire system with the remover. It sounds like you just need to let it soak longer. Here is the link to the cleaning directions for the systems:

One more thing, if your base is a lace base, use the Lace Release to remove the system from your head. Simply spray the Lace Release on where the tape is and allow it to sit for 4 to 5 minutes before taking it off. The tape should remain on your scalp once you remove the system.

Hope this helps.

I am wearing a full cap and switching to polyback+ lace front soon, I think.
Nowadays, everytime 90% of tape residue stayed on the poly and that I have a very difficult time take the tape out (mass shed when I forcefully peel the tape off).
I did the soaking last time... not sure what is meant by 1/2"? last time I put both water and adhesive remover into the container because it seems like I didnt have enough adhesive remover in it.. but I still used up half the bottle!!
Also, I realize after soaking the hair colour is slightly different... :(
Hmmmmm. I am curious as to which adhesive remover you are using? Regardless if it is alcohol based or oil based, you should not be adding water to it. When I mentioned 1/2", I was refering to the depth of the adhesive remover in the bottom of the container. My point was that you do not have to immerse the entire unit in the remover, just the part that you have the tape or adhesive on. Try soaking the unit for at least a few hours ( 3 to 4 ) and only the part/perimeter where your tape is. Let me know how it works.
