I love the quality of construction, but I am absolutely delighted with the hair. Everything is just perfect; the density, the curl and most importantly the type of hair used. It is so easy to manage on account of the beautiful silky hair used and looks absolutely fabulous. Everybody agrees that it is just like my own hair was years ago - before I lost it all. I will only be ordering from Hairdirect from now on.

It is a pleasure to be able to order from people who really know what they are doing and know how to get the results that I am after !

Thanks again,

Ingrid

I've just received my latest system which I bought in the sale and yet again I'm disappointed with the density and knots.

I've previously asked HD more than once to reduce the density particualry at the front as it looks unnatural when compared with my own hair as it's thinned out since I first began purchasing HD systems some years ago. I also find having the hair too thick also reduces its movement and limits the style I like which tends to be a modern short style where you can see straight through to the scalp.

Also, in spite of numerous requests, the factory are still using double rather than single knots which gives a less natural appearance and movement to the hair. I know that for a fact cause all my new systems frequently shed some hair after washing and I can clearly see x2 hairs per knot rather than a single hair per knot.

Once again the knots arn't all bleached out in spite of several previous requests. I reversed the system and held it against my skin and could see lots of black dots.

This isn't so much of a problem because I can uased a bleaching kit to reduce these but I'm disappointed that this wasn't addressed before being shipped out to me.

I know HD can get things occasionally right as one of my last two systems was almost perfect in density. There were a few unbleached knots but I quickly got rid of these myself. Once cut in it look great. But this tends to the the exception rather than the rule.

Why can't this kind of quality be consistently repeated? Am I expecting too much? It's so frustrating because although HD is great at correcting things I still have to then wait at least another 5 weeks before getting my system back. At the moment I can't do that because my old system is worn out now so I'll have to hang onto this one until my next ones arrive at the end of November.

Please HD can you try harder on quality contgrol and to ensure future systems consistently right - thanks.

Hi Melissa. It has been some time since I've had to contact a hair tech ... I am needing to upgrade my Plan from the 4A to the 6A and make one slight change to the system... Everything else has been great and ,as always, I appreciate you and your Techs for the great customer service you provide.

Recently we've been discussing the idea of setting up a text messaging service. It'd be pretty basic at first and would allow all of you good people to setup your account with us to get instant notifications and messages on your cell phones. We could use this service to do stuff like....

Notifying you when your order has shipped or if there were delays or problems with your order

Following up with you when you request details about your order

Notifiying you when we publish a new video or when someone reponds to one of your forum posts

Sending coupons and sale alerts when we're running a promotion etc.

Of course this would be an optional service but we just wanted to get your opinion on something like this. Obviously there are privacy concerns for many of you so we wanted to feel you guys out before making the decision to move forward.

So, let us know what you think... good, bad or indifferent?

Thank You, HD!

So my full cap unit is here, and it is awsome. If I send them back, I have only one unit and no spares for that time period.

This is really just becoming almost unbelievable at this point. Has anyone else had similar things happen or am I the only one? Any recommendations of who I should escalate this to and what I should do? I just want my orders to reflect the exact same specs, or at least darn close, every time.

Some questions for HD

Hi HD

I have lurked the forums for a while now and I am trying to learn as much as I can before I take the plunge here. It's a life changing decision so I need to be informed...I am going to do it, just waiting to get all information before I do it and I am 99% sure I am going with HD.

So far I see that HD has superior service on all levels, provides an almost complete resource for learning and is pretty fair when it comes to feedback.

Now I am going to really test you...

This weekend I sprained my ankle, so I have had time to search the net and basically waste time. I was looking through the HD forums older posts (all the way back to the earliest) to see the progression of this website, the service and the products. In doing so I came across some talk of websites I wasn't aware of (farrel, coolpiece.. etc) so being the curious sort and off my feet for a while I decided to visit them.

A first glance a few looked like rip-off joints. Then I looked a little deeper, one site in particular (tl) has a seeming hatred for all others including HD (although they are a bit more civil toward HD) their forum is a mess (old school) and pictures aren't all that great. However, I learned quite a bit more on their website forums than I have here.

Keep in mind the reason for this post is ONLY that I want to make sure I understand everything completely it's not to question the integrity of HD or anything like that.

In the past I have been fooled into unimaginable things (scars to prove it) so I used to be uninformed.. not anymore.

On that note, please correct me if any of the following statements aren't true.

Note: keep in mind that HD's interaction and customer service level automatically leads me to believe HD over anyone else right now, you are a "trusted" source to me at this point and they are still questionable.

What you are selling comes from a factory overseas.

This is the same (or similar) factory as other resellers get their products.

What you are selling is just a base(s) with hair injected/tied to it.

This is the same (or similar) base(s) as other resellers.

You all sell basically the same thing (bases) with different names. (swiss/french lace = High Definition)

Custom base sizes are all made from stock units that are cut (the lace shape) by HD

The lace bases are not cut to size and then filled with hair.

The lace bases can be trimmed to any shape or size by the customer (if careful)..

The REAL difference betwen HD and coolpiece is the end level service: consultation, cut, and personal level of service and not the actual product.

The reason I ask these questions is to be sure of what is going on.
In the past places like HCM were blazenly dishonest about the product. I want a company that is honest. I am perfectly willing to pay more for customer service, I just want to make sure that that is what I am paying more for.. I do not want to feel like I am paying more for a better product if it isn't a better or superior product. (that's deceptive in my book)

Again, I am perfectly willing to pay more for superiour service, I think almost everyone feels that way.

A few other observations...

To my eye, tl seem to sell the exact same product (albeit poorly ) and they tell you in almost street level terms that it is a "piece". They also claim to have a new system that is even more undetecable and something HD doesn't have. "The TL 700 is .06 mm thick." (is that true?)

They also have Super Fine Swiss, Ilace, Frence Lace which I would imagine this is basically the High Definition?
Is that correct? Is there any comparison anywhere?

On that forum, people have talked about taking two older pieces, carefully cutting them in half and making a good unit out of them. (and have claimed that works great) Some have also talked about buying stock units, cutting then to the "bald spot" and having 4 spares from one stock (and the site owner actually enchoraged it) I have seen videos of lace cutting that kinda proves this...

To me, after just visiting HD that was unthinkable, I was SHOCKED! But then I realized, its just a lace base, nothing special (aside from that) and it could of course be trimmed up.

Many of the forum participants claim that the bases are better then HD's, some claim including the "owner" that everything they sell is the same as HD (except for the TL 700) and a lot cheaper. In fact the owner makes great bones about the morality of selling it for more. There are more than a few instances like this.

It's a bit confusing and I'd like to hear any HD comments on that. I would imagine there are people on this board who lurk like me or who just need that little extra push and a little more from HD would help.

Please don't take my questions as accusations or anything of the sort, I have a high respect for HD!

Honesty, integrity and customer service is more important to me than price any day of the week!

Back2Natural

Yesterday I applied the Back2Natural Medium Ash Brown to one of my older units. I took another's advice and detached the unit before combing it through my hair (just to mitigate the chance of inadvertently darkening the knots). Very pleased with the color. Took out the red tones and the hair feels softer now. I'll give a follow-up after I wear it this week.

-Robert

Just my 2 cents: HD24 base vs. the HD03

Well after ordering hair using the HD24 base (full lace) and the HD03 lace (full lace with skin perimeter), I have to vote for the HD03 hands down, and here are my reasons why:

Durability - this is the biggie. I think that since all the knots are bleached on the 24 and not just the front hairline, this weakens the knots in all areas of the system. My last 24 lost a massive amount of hair in the top crown area during routine cleaning and attachment. And this is an area that I don't even attach directly to my scalp with tape or glue (it just "floats" there, if you will), so adhesives or tapes aren't to blame. Upon close inspection of the gobs of hair that suddenly fell out, the knots had simply broken. This after about 2 months wear time.

Durability of the different lace materials didn't seem to be much of a factor for me (didn't have much tearing in either one), just the hair loss causing the HD24 to become unusable sooner than later.

To go along with the first thought above (bleached knots on the whole thing), who is really looking that close at the top or sides of your head anyhow? Trade a non-issue for durability (hold the bleach, please).....

Front hairline detectability: I can't tell much of a difference between the HD24 and HD03 on this point, even though the lace on the HD24 is a bit finer. I suppose there might be a slight difference in them, but once it's in the glue I'd say you can't see either one.

Goo in the perimeter of the HD24 from tape: I primarily used the Proflex no-shine tape tabs with the HD24 to secure the perimeter. Man let me tell 'ya, that stuff seeps up thru the lace during the week and gets into the hair, way more than glue ever would. So now you've got to clean that whole perimeter really good between attachments or you have matted hair. The HD03 solves this with it's skin perimeter. One draw here though is, yes, that edge will be slightly more detectable to the touch.

Just my 2 cents on these two base styles; Both have there advantages/dis-advantages and you just have to weigh them out considering your lifestyle and what you can afford if you want to replace them every month.

HD Service

I was very touched by the post of "flowers to Margaret" and thought how kind. And at 73 years of age I have dealth with a lot of companies in my lifetime!I ran my own business in restoring antique furniture for many years in the same manner, and I never had a bad customer(oops, maybe one!) and always got paid for my efforts. I PROMISE, I'm not a picky person, and am very easy to please. I just have this personality that doesn't deal well with knowing that I've botched something, as I did when I trimmed my own lace back too far.

I corrected the 'dark knot' issue with your help, but I just wish that I could go back to the beginning and have not cut that lace myself :-(

So, I don't know if you guys can add lace to a non HD unit, but if so, I'd love to have you all work on this.

Even if ya all can't, don't feel badly. I am proud to be part of the community and to try and help others.

-Assuming- that you all can add lace to a non HD unit, I have just a few questions.

Did I see correctly that the adding of lace also includes a little bit of hair added?

If so, would the knots for those hairs be bleached?

Is there an estimate as to how long it'd take to get the unit back? Like, as long as it would be before Thanksgiving, that would be awesome.

Common sense tells me that you might easier answer my questions if you know some specs.

My color is 1B, and the base is entirely French Lace.

Crossing my fingers, hoping you guys may be able to redeem this unit :-)

Walter

Is it dried once the glue stops being sticky on the scalp?

Hi

Unfortunately, the factory made a mistake and made my units with 6" of hair instead of 16". Margaret caught this and called me to tell me about it. She put a super rush and had the units remade. After I received the units I realized that they were both really thin in comparison to what I was comfortable wearing.

Margaret let me send back the units with rush shipping and reimbursed me for the charges. I told her that my current unit was in bad shape and that I really needed those units as quickly as possible. So, again Margaret put a super rush on my order. When she received them back from the factory she sent me an email telling me that she would overnight my units without charging me for that.

My point in posting about this is that I was frustrated at first. I was very frustrated because I chose to skip my family reunion since I didn't have a new unit and didn't like how the old one looked. Unfortunately, I come from a family of over achievers and good looking people. I feel that my options are perfection or nothing at all. That's a different topic for another time though.

After I got past this point........I really started noticing just how hard Margaret was working to make me happy. It wasn't her fault that the factory had made mistakes twice in a row on these units. She was busting her ass to try and keep a client happy. My husband made a good point about it a few days ago when he said that Margaret really seemed to be trying hard to make sure that I was happy and that most companies wouldn't go that far.

I'm really grateful that Margaret cared and worked so hard to get these issues fixed. The unit hair is absolutely beautiful. It's so soft and I'm just worried that it'll all fall out or something since it's so nice. I have never received units with such nice hair. I mean they are just gorgeous. Also, I learned my lesson too. I ordered a back up unit with the July sale that HD had. If there are mistakes in the future then it won't be such a huge deal because I'll have my back up unit.

When I think back on this experience with the two units though...........the mistakes don't stand out to me. What really stands out is my hair tech. Margaret, thank you for providing the best customer service I have ever received in my life. I find it unbelievably strange that it should take a few days to contact me( it has already gone 3 days) since HD received my "kit" and still no one has contacted me via telephone...Sure it says that I can book the appt. myself in the e-mail...but how in the heck can I get a time confirmed if no one has contacted me to say whether the time I have "selected" is acceptable to HD?

I find this an extremely strange way to conduct business...that is, where the customer--is basically left in the dark. The use of expressions such as "in a few days" or "shortly thereafter" has no validity in business. For instance how accepting would HD be if, concerning payment, I were to state.."Payment will be made...in a few days as things are really busy here...or shortly after I've received the product"? I can answer that for you since HD has made that crystal-clear...you don't/won't get jacks--t until payment sits in their acct...Why isn't this in the reverse?? No money until I get the product...I bet that would get the fire going under their a--es!!

And, oh yes, about the special summer rebate that was e-mail out in july...I did everything I could to get my order in by the cut-off date( I had been waiting for over a week to be contacted for a video consultation as I was unsure about somethings before sending back my kit), I was finally contacted on thursday the evening before the cut-off date and was told that I would still be able to enjoy a price rebate since I had ordered my kit during the summer. I was able to post the kit on the final friday of the offer. HOWEVER, I will see if this is/was just a scam to get people to order.

I had high hopes from all the "stroking" HD gets on this forum (by the way...how much does HD pay Tim Ferris?? I refuse to believe that he isn't on the payroll!), but so far it has only been complications...and my hairsystem order hasn't even been processed yet!!!

I work for a international corporation and publish a fashion-blogg in one of the most read newspapers in scandanavia and have experienced alot in my day...but it seems like from my experience that HD is only going to be a problem instead of a help to me or anyone...sad to say.

Sincerely,

Swede

Just Got My New System

Hey HD just wanted to say thanks for a great experience with the process of ordering my first system. I must say once I opened the the box, it exceeded my expectations far beyond. I was very impressed with what the package had come with and most of all, my system. I absolutely love it and the quality is amazing...

All of you over at Hair Direct are extremely helpful, and this site is amazing. I feel not only I can ask all the techs questions, but I can ask other hair wearers as well.

Thanks again for giving me the tools to do this myself and not have to spend tons of cash at a club.

You guys Rock!!!

Comfort ratings

I am trying to figure out which of the hair systems could work for me. I have an idea of what the appearance and durability ratings mean, but I don't understand the comfort ratings . Which are the factors that determine comfort?
