I actually use a "wig" brush. It's black with silver "bristles". I MUCH prefer this brush over the plastic vent brushes. I think they are easier on my hair.
Regarding shampoo - I love pureology nanoworks shampoo and conditioner, but in this economy, it's a definite splurge. Recently, Loreal put out a shampoo and conditioner that I think works great...Loreal Everpure. It doesn't contain any sulfates and works really well on my hair.
