how often are you planning to take off your unit to clean it, once a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks. When you use the C-22 spraying the front it will make the glue gooey, you will need to clean the lace. The easiest way is to use the mirror slide. This will get the glue from between the lace. I usually only remove my unit every 3weeks nearly, and thats mainly to re-attach it to my head, and to clean the lace so its in go order. If the hair is coming thru maybe you need to consider some TDI knott sealer. If you see some hair shedding that may be some of the hair breaking on the knotts. Im sure everyone gets this, its probably more frequent in those of us that have slightly longer hair. I think it has something to do with the process of knott bleaching, how it slightly weaks the hair. But despite this, having bleached knots is da best idea ever invented.

If its HairDirect it looks good.

I agree with Mike- using a nail brush to clean the lace is not a good idea, it's causing the hair to come through the inside part of the unit. Either try the mirror method or try using thick kitchen paper (not toilet paper) to clean the glue.

For the first time in my life, I'm not alone in this...

yes using a nailbrush is a fast way to ruin a unit. it pulls the hairs right out. use the mirror slide method.its cleans the lace so easily.
only drawback is a messy mirror that needs cleaning in the bathroom, but i sure its better to clean a mirror than to ruin a great hair unit

the suggestion about cleaning the lace gently was from the HD cleaning guide. Maybe HD should review that part and edit it. Using a nail brush can quickly destroy a unit. Its in the area about cleaning the hair.

its good that added this forum, im sure they are amazed at how popular it is, and some of the tips other wearers have.

One tip with the mirror slide that I learned somewhere on here. If you put a strip saran wrap on the mirror itself - it will stick - and slide your piece on the saran wrap, it gets the glue off easily and cleanup afterward is alot simpler - just peel off the saran wrap and throw it away!!

Mike, didn't you get a DVD with your unit ? I spoke with Diane at HD and she said your supposed to get a DVD with your unit ( I didnt either ) on how to care for it.

The DVD is a complete waste of time, don't even bother!

It shows the dude putting dots in front of the hairline with no regard to where the hairline actually is.  What????  Then he smears a very heavy single layer of glue on his head like he's spackling a wall or something.  Drys the glue for 30 seconds and puts the hair into, and after wiping the dots off, supposedly is finished.  Are you kidding me?

Come on HD, get with it with these instructional videos.  Hire a professional and depict what it really takes to have success with your product.

And when you show a guy using the fitting kit indoors, in artifical lighting, and supposedly picking out his hair color by holding the hair ring to the side of his head and looking in a mirror?  Impossible!  This is how to get the color 100% wrong.

Brian D., you’re absolutely right. Our current video content is lacking and some are even downright embarrassing. A few were shot years ago and are obviously outdated.

The good news is, we’re already on the case and we’re committed to bringing better content your way.

Beginning in early 07’, we will begin producing a host of educational and “how to” video’s. A long list has already been compiled and we’re in the process of prioritizing.

If there is anything you or anyone else would like to see, please send us your requests.
