Hair replacement systems custom-made anddelivered to your door. 100% guaranteed!
Hi Rio-
I am going to be out for a while but will write more later today or tomorrow.
In the meantime, I really think, and others will probably agree, that your problem is in the cleaning of the scalp and base and the poor condition of your unit. If that's the case, it can definitely be resolved, it will just require some patience and experimentation on your part. If it's a body chemistry issue, I think you will just need to order and try a bunch of different tapes and glues until you figure out what works, also doable! This is all good news for you.
We will discuss more on this tomorrow.
I know there are some people who only get a 3-4 day bond due to their body chemistry so if that ends up being the case for you, I hope that will be OK. It's better than reattaching several times a day!
In the meantime, please watch these videos and notice the difference between what they are doing and what you are doing. I couldn't find a video that shows how to clean the scalp and unit while it's on your head but I know many of the men do it. I've tried it a few times but found it very frustrating. I choose to remove the whole unit and go through the entire process each time instead of just lifting the front--but that's just me. I started this thread, so keep an eye on it and see what people have to say. http://www.hairdirect.com/community/forums/thread/23099.aspx

hi rio,
to my eyes there seems to be a fundamental error in your attachment regime thats not quite right...for a start surgical spirit is not quite the same as 99 percent alcohol..they are totally different..
i`d firstly go back to the drawing board and order lace release(essentially 99 percent but with mineral oil so kinder to the hair) ..id order amber ...id get an intensive shampoo for systems too
id order supertape and a new bottle of safegrip..in fact get front tape too and gove that a try for now
id go back to the drawing board and try and work this out
i think it can be worked out by a case of elimination...
i know this sounds daft but are you putting moisturiser or baby oil on your head???
this would stop the tape sticking
sue knows alot more than me mate ..i have been searching websites for you for an answer..
i think its your system though..and if you buy a new one here..and start again..getting all new glue and tape it will all work out for you..
i dont even think its a mystery..i think the solution is an obvious one...but its a case of elimination to work it out
the good thing is mate you are in a better frame of mind and for that..i am happy for you pal
JONNY
understood sue. . i che k this website daily so i will respond tommorw. johnny can u tell me where to get sum cleaining stuff urgently like from boots or a chemist. one salon told me surgical spirit is the best method of removal.
i also think i can do this with sum coaching and live a better life. i have ordered a system with optima leaving my l;ast savings to them. i know u guys are thinking "why" but its the closest i will ever get to a hands on approach.
failing this last resort i will be buying systems from this website as its 75 percent cheaper and the systems are beter i guess. mine is very hatty looking .where can i get sum 99 percent alcohol and i need to know the reason why i need it as the chemist always questions me lol.
and yes i do feel better after talking to both of u . i feel u guys def are angels helping other people. im pretty sure i can wirk this out with your help. its frustrating that ive tried everytihng. the past 3 years.
ok so a new system is on its way to me . i have to call optima tommrow. the owner is trying to fast track it for me. so it could be here within 2 weeks. and im a frequent visitor on here so i can keep u updated. i ust need to know wat to do to sai through the next two weeks or longer. i think i will purchase some 99 percent alchohol if i know where to get it from. thats my next thing to do .
i also wanted to ask if its wise to shave the hair of on the bonding area. just that angelo david in nyc told me not to and i didnt and i got two weeks hold from it ?
Rio
i cleansed my scalp today with surgical spirit and dish soap. the bond lasted 4 hours . im amazed .longest bond so far. it came off again so im just peeling off the glue as its that easy.
im using an adhesive i found which isnt by any company brand but its oil free on white dries clear type in a small vial. i applied a thin coat then used a hair dryer on a lukewarm setting. ive just styled it and i can face my family for supper. gawd i hate this routine.
my days of working as a model and leading an interesting life are so well gone. there is nuthin left now except wake up eat do the hair then do it again and spend time researching on here and then bonding again.
what a life. if my new system doesnt work out from optima which i know it wont then im seriously considering going to hd direct myself and spending a mnth in nyc back home and getting the right mentoring if i wantto continue with my life cos this canot go on. its really daunting and i would tell anyone to do a lot of research before embarking on hair replacement. i have been in hair for three years and never get a correct bond despite going to salons weekly sumtimes two times in a week.
i wish hd were reading my plight. i would def spend a mnth there nearby to get this sorted. i wat every expert there to help me lol. if only...............
Rio- I'm sorry you are losing hope, especially since with just a slight adjustment you got a much longer attachment today. As you can see, each step is very important.
I certainly wouldn't say your social life is over. It may be just beginning.
As for surgical spirit, Jonny is right. It's most likely 70% alcohol. It's my understanding that you can't by 99% alcohol in the UK but you can get it from HD in the form of "Adjust-A-Bond."
Regardless, I think you aren't getting the best info from your hair club. There are a few reasons. One is that if your stylist there does not wear hair, they will not know the best protocol for you. They will give you a standard protocol. Usually when they clean and handle the systems at clubs and salons they are not very careful with them. Really, they don't care how long it sticks, as long as it is stuck to your head when you walk out the door.
Second, they want to make you dependent on them and their services and products. I understand you want some hands-on help, it just doesn't seem as though you are getting it. They will not tell you how to do everything, otherwise you would not come back to them.
I'm glad you are getting a new system because that is part of the problem you are having.
The other part of the problem is the way you are cleaning your scalp and I think you are not cleaning the base of your unit each time you re-bond it. You will never get a good bond if you are not thoroughly cleaning the scalp and the base of the unit between each bond. If you are putting new glue on top of old you will not get a good bond. And to answer your question, yes, you SHOULD shave your scalp down if you are using Safe Grip or any of the bonds sold on this site. At a club, they often use an adhesive that sticks to your growing hair stubble. That's why they don't use a razor. They need a little stubble to stick the glue to.
Most of us clean our scalps with the following type of regimen (or similar):
Clean the scalp and remove all adhesive with a citrus solventShave down to the skinScrub at least 2 times with an exfoliating glove and dish soapApply scalp protector (some people use Maxim which you might want to try. Do a search for it in the forum)Most people clean the base of the unit with the following type of regimen (or similar):
Use 91% alcohol (Lace Release) to remove tape Use mirror slide/CD slide/microfiber towel to remove glue from base (you can search for these methods in the forum)Spray base with citrus solvent or soak the base in solventThoroughly clean the base with dish soap to cut the oils from the solventRinse thoroughly with the underside of the unit facing UP towards the waterWash/condition the hairApply tape if you are using tapeTo bond:Follow the directions for the adhesive you are using (1-2 coats etc)Spray Adjust-A-Bond on the tape/gluePosition unit on head, press into place.Sometimes it takes a half hour or so for the bond to cure.
Here is a list of the most popular products, all available in the HD store.
These are the basic steps but many people have their own variation. If you are not following all of these basic steps you will not get a good bond. If you follow the steps and still don't get a good bond you could have a body chemistry issue at which time you would need to follow the same cleaning protocol but start experimenting with different adhesives.
thx sue for that. i think there is an answer .. im sorry people are reading my plight and thinking is this kid crazy. i assure you my main issue is the bonding. if this is sorted i can retrieve my former life. i dont want to be couped up 24 7 in my house. im even neevous to go to the shop around the corner.
i would order the systems from hd right now and the tapes and adhesives. this was an option a year or so ago but now its unealistic as i dont work now so i cant do anything untill i get sum muni together but it gives me hope and hope is all i have right now . there is a cure and im holding on to that.
the ,ethod thats worked right now is using the oil fee adhesive and using two thin coats and letting it dry weith a cold seting hair dryer.
but i do take ur comment to heed
also would anyone know a very good gel to give the system a shiny look throught the day. none of the waxes are any good . i use alchohol fe ones but there must be a really good shiny wax that last all day
rio
i ordered my 99 percent surgical spirit off ebay from a uk dealer...its only cheap
if im being honest pal the current guy you are buying your hair off is a conman..hes not helping you
you should order one from here..instead..theres no point going down the same road again and wasting your money
alot of hair clubs are charlatans..stay away pal and do it all the right way (from scratch)
then you will be fully confident in your own methods..having so much reliability on a hair club is half your stress in my book
you are better off cutting ties and going your own way..i think the hair systems you are being sold are inferior and thus causing you all this stress
thx johnny
im gunna purchase that alchohol fromebay or get the normal stuff wat everyone else uses.
As for the clubs?i have had dealings with ths( total hair solutions) in london. great people and helpful owner but terrible hat like wigs.
whitecliffs is a no no especially inmanchester. a lot of people tell me he is a conman (the guy who runs it) lucky i was on a mnthly basis. i just dont go no more. the new one in birm ingham is great. i already ordered fromhima and spent my last few quids on it. this is the last time failing that im gunna purchase the 12 packfromhd and then go to the salon to get it cut in.
how can they be "great" if this whole thing isnt working for you?? i am bemused
just because the latest salonare more to a personal level and give u advice and dont try to sell u anything, it was my idea to purchase of them and they just told me wat to expect etc.
its just the last time so i know ive tried the hair club route .the others were con artists from day one but i was too naiive and young then . im more wiser now . my next approach is def hair direct. i gave these guys my word so im on a mnthly thing with them cash only so its not like im tied down with it .but i appreciate everything uve tried to do johnny and sue . wud be good to meet up . once i get the new system i will let u guys know and go through everything step by step.
You don't have to get an HD system cut in at a salon. HD can do it for you. Just send them any picture of what you are looking for or you can choose one that you like from the site:
http://www.hairdirect.com/photos/hairstyle-gallery/men.aspx
You can also send them an old unit that fits you well, and they can replicate it.
Stop wasting your money and just go with HD!
