    Hi Donald.

    Your photos look great!

You don't look anywhere near your age and your system is totally undetectable.
Aside from the girls, I can't figure out who's is better, yours or BrianD's. Big Smile

Speaking of which, it brings me to my question.
In BrianD's video where he shows putting it on, the hairline just dissapears. But while he's putting the tape on it looks like the color of the base matches the hair/skin.

I am wondering, his skin tone is pinkish, yours is a bit darker, so is there a difference in the systems?
Are they tinted in any way allowing them to dissapear like that?  Are they truly "invisible"?

I'd ask HD but your answers are infinately more enjoyable to read!

    Thanks for your time.

    ylmrog,

Thank you for your statement about my "answers are infinitely more enjoyable" to read. I appreciate that because i'm also a writer of policy and procedures at my day job along with being a former writer with a major television channel guide magazine for about 11 years, and that magazine still exists and is based in PA.

As far as my age, thanks but i have to admit that i have my father's genetic make up. When he was 60 i could not believe it because my father's skin and hair just wouldn't get "older" and i was actually "waiting" to see when he would look his age. I have to show my ID sometimes when i'm out and about with new people that i have met or just people in general. i sometimes feel like some teenager who needs to show their ID in order to buy beer or get into a bar or something! (lol) But also, in my case, i don't drink, drunk or smoke, so that help in keeping one's youth just a little bit longer too. i still have all the fun that i want and get my needs met, as some would say!

But i "digress"! As far as BrianD video, i've watched the particular one that you mentioned and because of his video i also use the same tape that he was demonstrating. It is now called NS 5000 PX tape and what i like about it is that it is a shorter version of most tape and easier to handle. I now also use supertape, again, and walker no-shine, again.

So through my own experimentation, i now use 3 different types for different locations on my unit.

As far as invisibility and undetectability of my unit compared to BrianD, simply because each person's scalp skin color will be different and of course mine is darker, but to my surprise at HD on may 15 2009, my HD hair specialist, Diane, MATCHED my lace unit, yes it is the lace units that have different colors to match one's scalp color.

So when we used a liquid adhesive for my frontal hairline just like BrianD, i was shocked and amazed at the same time that my scalp and with the right color of the lace, it "disappeared" into my scalp skin.

I was so shocked about that when i drove back home to silver spring maryland, i went straight to one of my sisters and my brother in law, and they could not find where my skin ended and the liquid adhesive began, thus the flawlessness of the frontal hairline worked for me, too.

I know you probably was wondering about that issue because i did too, but i will be honest with anyone about the fact that i was also concerned how HD would be able to accommodate me simply because i am a person of color and my scalp was not the color of milk but darker! (lol)

But seriously, when i went up to HD, i was very conscious and concern about HD being able to match my choice of the HD24 full lace unit and if my scalp would NOT show the lace just because if my skin color.

Well, HD are the experts and i was not the first african american male that they have dealt with, but i'm the first one that has a photo in the HD photo gallery at this time and even HD and i created a short video and the full version, with my unit ON and OFF in the video, will be out later this month or november 2009.

But now, i actually use ALL tape around my entire perimeter of my units now. Because of my own hair style that i have with the part and having my hair brushed towards the front now, i don't need to have the lace to "disappear" on my scalp anymore, just because of the way i style my units now.

Anyway, the liquid adhesives are just a little bit too much work for me, and i'm glad that i decided to create my own unique hair style in the way that i have it today.

Actually i have ordered 1/4 more hair for my frontal hairline for my next shipment. I now want a little more hair on my frontal because i love my waves and curls so much that it "suits" me just fine, along with my forehead, face, etc.

Thanks for the question about skin color and lace matching because it is not something most people on this forum have to be concern about, compared to a person of color, such as myself.

I hope you get to see my full video soon and if you haven't check out the short version that is in the "photos and videos" section of the site. You will have plenty of laugh out of it because i enjoyed helping to create it, too!

Enough out of me, for now!

    Take care,

    -D

    Hi donadlt

Like I said, infinately more enjoyable!  Thanks. Big Smile
    Very informative!

I will have to ask HD about the next obvious question..
If caucasian are all treated the same in terms of lace color?
I have lighter skin than my wife's brother, Italians have much different skin tones that Irish... assuming we were both customers..is that  part of the matching process (skin tone) or does it not really matter?

I ask not only because of donaldt's skin tone but also because of Chris who had a "tan" and his lace line is detectable in the promo shot. But it also says that you should tan with the unti off, indicating that the skin color doesn't matter..

So at what point does it matter?

I am not concerned, just curious, I have fairly light skin so for me, it would be just like the majority in the pictures.

    Thanks again donaldt!

    ylmrog,

    You're welcome..Not a problem.

I also want to mention that when it comes to scalp skin tone comparing with lace colors, i read on this board before that there are places in Europe that have "natural or colorless" lace, i believe, thus no need to be concerned about "matching" anyone with lace, but i believe i read that lace was very delicate or expensive, if i'm not mistaken.

Anyway, check with any HD hair specialist when you can. But I do know one thing, my scalp was actually lighter than my face, so matching some people of color will not be a problem, depending on the shades of color, i'm sure.

that is why if there can be some sort of "natural or colorless" lace out in the market or if technology is working on it, then this part of the measurement process would be a "no brainer" and a colorless lace would be universal!

    what an idea, hah?
