Hair replacement systems custom-made anddelivered to your door. 100% guaranteed!
I had cleaned and just put my new hair system back on , but I position it a bit too low on my forehead, and after 5 hours I could not stand it being too low on my forehead , and I was able to pull off my hair and reposition it and I was just going to re clean it and re tape it but the super tape felt sticky still so I just put it back on in the right position and the same super tape again stuck great and has a great holding feeling still. Has any one else ever done something similar and if so did you have a good hold for a week or more ?
LoL I even blew a fan on it and it still stuck to my head !
Some times I think the hardest part of re attaching hair is getting it on right
Billy
billyapb1071,
I'm also in the process, right now, of removing/clean/retape/reattach my HD24 full lace unit (every 7-10 days for me). I have done exactly what you have described, once before too, but i was too afraid to just re-attach that i ended up using lace release to remove my tapes again and just started over again. Because i go swimming at my local gym, etc., i did not want to take any chances.
Supertape is also an excellent type of tape now that i'm using it again and i'm sure you can get 1 to 2 weeks of a very strong hold for yourself, just monitor your unit, especially since you only re-attached instead of re-taping.
You will know if it works or not, i'm sure!
With the concern of reattaching my unit to my scalp, even though some on this forum said that was the easy part, but quite frankly, after my removal, cleaning of my scalp, cleaning of my unit, retaping, and finally "marking" my frontal for the exact fit to the front hairline (i use an original scalp mold from HD to measure each time), after 5 months, i'm still a little nervous of bonding, but i'm getting much better and more confident.
I also use mirrors on my left, right, back, and of course my front views and i also have a hand held mirror, just so i can "see" EVERY angle, in order to minimize any errors of mounting, while i'm in my bathroom. Sometimes it is the most nervous time of my entire process, but if i don't get my system bonded properly, i know what the consequences for me will be. So i'm very very careful of trying my best to do it right the first time, but that is not always going to happen because i have experienced more than once that my unit was on a little crooked, or like you said too far to the front and what happens is the back is too far up and thus i have an open SPOT in my back and that is when i will use adjust a bond product or something similar to undo my unit and adjust my system as best as i can because i have no choice. It has to be right because i have to "meet and greet" my public! (lol) Image for me is just as important as my personality!
I have to mount my system correctly, as i said before, otherwise i will remove, clean and perform the whole process all over again, because i feel that after i bond the tape for any period of time and then remove it and try to bond again with the same tape, i personally don't trust the adhesive, so i will just redo all over again, but only if i can't adjust with adjust a bond product and work with my system as quickly as possible.
In closing, it takes me about 2 hours now to complete my process, but in the beginning it took about 6 hours just because i was on "pins and needles" and didn't trust myself at that time.
Now i feel much more self-confidence in myself with bonding a hair system and i can say that as time and practice goes by i'm getting perfected with the technique.

hah thanks donald but no it didn't take me 5 hours to attach it,. It has never took me 6 hours to attach and clean my hair, but I used to go to hc4m so I kinda had a better ideal of what I was doing then you did, what I did this time was I pull it back off after 5 hours of wearing it, though i ended up just reattaching it with new tape.
haha your get the hang of it soon ! and be down to 1 hour like me , even though this time I did position it wrong because I was rushing . I guess the lesson here is don't rush on that part!
Sorry about that! My misunderstanding of your previous post. I got it now! Thanks for the clarification.
Actually, i can perform my rem/clean/retape/reattach in an hour, but i do not have a unit always ready to attach, because i rather keep using the current unit that i removed until it is time to replace (which i can use one unit up to 90 days). So it will take me longer than an hour simply because i will clean my scalp thoroughly, and clean my unit, dry the system (with a floor fan (lol)), really and that is because i refuse to use an actual dryer. I rather use a floor fan to dry "naturally". I have my unit mounted on a mannequin, by the way, too, while it is drying for about 15 minutes.
Oh, i see you were in a rush in one of your situations, now that is no good! Let's give ourselves more time! (lol). Seriously though, i allow myself plenty of time and i usually perform my maintenance every saturday night as late as 1 or 2 am in the middle of the night, when i have some peace and quiet and my phone is not ringing off the hook, etc.
One thing i'm finding out about the removal and reattaching procedures is that i need to be very careful about this because i just don't want to make a mistake because of rushing and be angry with myself and i can easily do that to me!
So i find the time and by the 7th day (i usually remove between 7-10 days, but really on the 7th day), i take the time and sometimes it can be 3 hours for me, only because i try to take it slow just because i'm such a "perfectionist of high standards" and also as a make-up artist, i know that i have to set some time aside to get it right the first time or i will waste time by starting all over again, anyway.
haha yea donald , I was in a rush and yea your right being in rush to clean hair is no good, lol and No your were ok as I was correcting my statement to you.
WOW 1 TO 2 AM TO CLEAN UR HAIR ?
You must be a late night person, If I cleaned my hair at 1 am I would mess it all up surly ,though lol right now it is 3 am and I am up after waking up being unable to sleep.
Hi there! About being a late night person, i may not have mentioned this to you before, but i have a home based part time graphic design business since 1995 at my condo, and i have customer requested designs from different clients to create on my computer and since it is a true passion of mine, i sometimes can be up to 3 to 5 am working on these special projects. I also work during the week as a computer trainer and as a writer and editor, at my day job.
No, being able to rem/clean/retap/reattach at those late night hours is to my advantage, simply because and since i'm single and free (lol) at my old age of 59 and a half, i have friends, family, or my relationships that will call or drop by or scheduled a visit to my condo and it is always during the evening or weekend and i have to be ready for anything that comes my way as far as people are concern.
Not everyone knows about my hair system and it is not necessary to tell everyone. So in order to have a safety net for me, i wait until late at night on a friday or saturday to perform my maintenance, since i'm use to being up late on a friday, saturday and even on a sunday night, just becaue of my home office business.
Even last night, i was creating a post card design for a client and i finally finished it a little after 1 am and went to bed.
I also noticed you said that you were up late because you couldn't sleep. I've been there just this past week and during the week, too! Then i was tired all day at my day office because of it.
i knew why i couldn't sleep and it had everything to do with something that i had on my mind and i just wouldn't let it go since i tend to worry too much and it can cause me to lose sleep at night when i start thinking too much about a situation that i really had no control over, anyway. Sometimes i think that i do and i couldn't wait until i got to the office the next day and did what i had to do, but my anxiety over issues causes me to act irrational sometimes and that is not healthy for me.
Even with wearing a hair system since May 2009, i still have a deep rooted issue of feeling uncomfortable sometimes about the way my unit looks in the public or at my day office simply because i know what i have on my topical scalp, so i go into the restroom more often just to check that everything is still in place (lol).
Sometimes i can be my worst enemy about me and i can be the worst judge of the way i may look, too. I have read that on this board by others, too, so i don't feel alone, but it is not mentally healthy for me to feel this way, but in time i will calm down about wearing a unit and will feel much more comfortable about not always thinking about it.
In time, i know i will get better, because i'm not feeling the way i used to about my system like i did in the beginning. I wanted to take it off my second day of wearing because i felt so strange with something on my head that wasnt' my own hair.
But when i thought about how i used to wear hair fibers, courve masking or cover up make up, using propecia hair growth pills, and trying to always keep my "hair illusions" as best as i can, nothing can compare to that and i had to perform that task EVERY MORNING, even!
So i can get use to wearing a unit more so than what i did in the past, but even this takes time for me. within a year i should not be talking like this and if i do then i would have a real problem of acceptance!! (lol)

I see I guess if I had so many people coming over I would do the same, or lock the door and draw the blinds closed, lol WHICH I do really do when I clean and re attach my hair.
I some times worrie too about my hair and what other might think, but I've been wearing hair since jan 2002 till present on and off and I've come to the conclusion not many people really notice it or if they do they don't care . I had a few ex's who known and they never cared about it.
Next time you get nervous that someone might notice you wear hair, try this mental Exercise , ask your self if you dated a person who wore hair would it bother you ? if not then your fine with your hair and more then likely people who care about you will feel the same way , heck one ex of mine said I looked far better with hair , but with saying that in the end , it was still me and not the hair that matter to my ex, the hair was just the icing on the cake ..!
Heck like Dolly parton said IN THE MOVIE STEEL MAGNOLIAS , BEAUTY IS MAN MADE ...
Wow 59 huh, I had assumed you were in your mid to late 40's ...
I know you get it on wrong and it is enough to drive you crazy !
I just reattached mine last weekend ( I do that on a 2 week rotation ) and I had decided to shave my real hair and used the wrong guard on my clippers and took way too much off of my own hair and just now is my hair and real hair blending good now, last weekend I went crazy trying to find the right position to put it on my head to try to make both hairs blend better. HAHA only time cured that ( lucky for me my own hair grows very fast on my sides ) now my two hairs are blending good, next weekend it should look great !
Btw jrob your blue max is super great , It helps so much with my hair system as far as it blending in better and the friz that these hair systems have ! I have a little friz still near the crown but as far as the rest it has pretty much tamed all the rest!
my last bottle lasted me from mid July to mid Oct. So I got a good 3 months use out of it and I do use more then just a few drops ! now if only you come come out with some blue max shampoo that gives volume to hair !
btw I got my new bottle of blue max this past tuesday and I can say it still looks great , It has left my hair unit shiny and gives me more time between Hair washes ! lol maybe I shouldn't say this, but I have not washed my hair since Tuesday but I got to say the blue max is working over time keeping my hair looking clean and shinny and still with no frizz other then near the crown ..
JRob,
People are truly are more alike than different! I too have that same issue about "getting it right for the first time" because of the back portion of my units are just a little bit too short back there and i still have to use my old standby, courve masking make-up to cover the spot.
i mentioned this to my HD-Margaret and we concluded that could be true and since i have my original mold from HD, i did measure the back with it and behold, it IS too short.
But you mentioned 1/8 of an inch. Margaret suggested and i measured almost about 1/4 to extend, but i'm not an expert with this so i don't want to get my back portion of future units too long.
So you made me think about 1/8 of an inch. Would you think that if i get 1/4 extended, would you worry that it would be too long?
Then again i could just cut some of my natural hair in the back to accommodate if it is. I have just answered my own question!! (lol)
Since 1/8 is not very much, i rather go for the 1/4. Again, what is your take on this, since you mentioned measurements.
By the way, i have ordered today, another Protective Sealer product. This is my third bottle and since june 2009, i can actually say the sealer is something i don't want to do without.
i can really feel a softer difference on my topical unit and my natural sides and back, compared when i first received my first unit and started shampooing and conditioning, etc.
But now when i rub and touch my topical system, i do feel a difference and is much softer, but one has to be consistent with whatever product one uses, i'm sure.
Anyway, enough out of me for now...
billyapb,
i see i'm not the only one that is still concern about the look of my unit in the public and you have been wearing yours since jan of 2002. It just let's me know one more time how i can be so self-conscience of my system that i can think too much about it.
But again, i know this will be a process for me too, and some may accept and go on with their lives a little quicker and some may not, so thanks for that bit of info.
About hair being the "icing on the cake" having hair period, is a must for me, just because i enjoy the fact of having hair on my scalp, but being able to STYLE my hair is what i have missed for some many decades.
i enjoy so much of creating my own unique style of waves because i have naturally growing short curls and waves, because my mother was part native american since her mother was full cherokee from georgia.
Anyway, it is just a pleasure of being able to get up and spray water, leave-in conditioner, and use my styling gel and create my own image with HAIR today, in spite of my relationships or not. I'm really doing this because of my own choice and how i feel on the inside, but it doesn't hurt at all to look my best for others, too! (lol) Not that being bald is a bad thing, but it is not my thing!
...and as you said about Dolly Parton, it is so true about us humans, "beauty is man-made" and i always said, "beauty is only skin deep" being just on the surface, including hair, but what a difference skin deep and hair beauty makes for both men and women! Most people will admit that one is more attractive WITH hair and having the "attractiveness" is the FIRST view one has of another and conversation will or will not come afterwards. So sometimes, looks does matter for some, which is reality.
So when some people say that "beauty is only in the eyes of the beholder" that is also true simply because beauty to some can mean something entirely different to some one else.
About my age, yes, and i will be 60 on jan 4 2010! I tell you, i have to show my driver's license these days! When i go out and socialize, some people are just not really believing me and it is not a bad thing, but as i mentioned on this board before, one thing i don't do is that i don't drink, drunk, or smoke, and i eat vegetables and fruit with a passion because i enjoy food in general.
Now i'm not an angel or nothing, and i do whatever i want to do in life and my intimate lifestyle is truly highly active, i must say and at my age that is not really normal for some men in my age group! (lol)
Enough personal stuff out of me, ok! (lol)
Always good writing and exchanging conversation with you.
Take care,
hi y`all, i just have one figure in my head and thats 3 and quarter inches..no ladies thats not my manhood hehe
its the size of my forehead from eyebrow to hairline..i cut a credit card that size dig in my head and position hair ..working from front to back
sometimes i think its a bit high but id rather do that than have too low a hairline as michigan baldy always says"thats doesnt make any sense" ..i laff at that quote on his dvd i bought ..referring to a low hairline hehehe
JONNY
hi billy,
it just always means i get the same position each time ...cos in pics a variation of forhead is questionable isnt it
Supertape rules!!!
I do the four fingers from top of eyebrows up routine and that works well for me but In really like JRob's idea of "recycling" an old credit cad as a sort of ruler.
I have the SOP 12/year plan, which (luckily) enables me to change them once a month. They come with the Supertape already on them. I take the old one off after a month (although once I wore one for 7 weeks before it became really loose---just wanted to see how good the hold really was) get all the gunk off my head, shave wear the system goes on, shower and clean my head, then spray Adjust A Bond on head and tape and place the new one on.
All in all it takes a total of maybe 10 minutes getting a new one on...the prep takes longer (showering and shaving).
Since I usually go for the messy look or swoop my hair up I have discovered a quick trick for cleaning up the front hairline---Listerine! I soak a cotton ball and gently blot or dab it on the front edge of the scallops and all the hair that has got stuck underneath, not too mention the dirt and whatever is gone. And the bonus? Wait for it---my hair doesn't smell funny it smells fresh! I swear this is true!
Maybe I'm just lucky or something but I don't have many problems with my systems. I love the folks at HD and haven't really posted on here since last year.
My new plan now (when I get around to calling my hair tech that is) is to stop having HD do the cut in, will order 6 inches lenghth all the way around and have my stylist buddy do the cuts. We figured that way I can have even more versatility. Everyone who knows me knows that I wear "hair in the box" and they are used to me doing crazy things with it anyway!
Love you guys at HD, you all ROCK!
Just wanted to put my two or three cents in...I'm not usually this long winded!
