No, but I did switch to a full cap, and it was the best move I ever made.
People most often think of a hairpiece as oval shaped, but you can make it any shape you want.
Everything has its positives and negatives, but you should never be afraid of increasing the size of your base to combat hairloss in other areas.

I have not yet but am about to - if by side flaps you mean temporal or side hair built into the hairpiece. I not only have a wide forehead but very thin - almost non existent temporal hair - making it difficult to obtain a natural look. I have come to realize that the best looking hairpieces are worn by guys who have the thickest temporal or side hair. On my next order I going to design in the temporal hair - I dont care if it feels like a wig - I think this is the only way I might solve this problem I have. I think William Shatner must have this - I always remebered him as having very thin side hair on the original Star Trek now it is rather thick. He has the best hairpiece of any one Ive seen (in the over 50 age group). Anyone else with experience or thoughts on this topic?
still trying after all these years......
Kirk,
I have fine thin hair and I designed my cap to fit 1/2" behind the hairline. It adds to the realistic look. I have seen the pictures of people who chose the lace and they look incredibly good too. Anyone who has tried it both ways would be able to respond best.

From what I understand, Shatner does wear a full cap.
Keep in mind that it will solve your problem of having thin sides and no temple points, but depending upon how well these areas are ventilated you might have to "cheat" it a little with styling products.
My avatar pic is of me with a full cap. And keep in mind that it doesn't feel like a wig in any way, shape or form. Feels pretty much like a natural, full head of hair.
JRob,
I called HD today because i did something stupid, i must say!! Since June 15 2009 when i first started to rem/cl/reatt myself, i have been shaving my male patterned baldness area consistently to a point that i now have shave too much off and even my new unit doesn't fit properly. There are "spaces" on my right and left sides of my head where there shouldn't be and my unit should have fit like a glove!
i noticed it last night when i reattached and i was basically "pissed" with myself. Now i will have to cover up the open areas with my former courve masking location to camouflage, until my hair in those spots grow back.
But i read one of your posts here that one can "stretch" their units? I only have a partial topical HD24 system. in my case and the fact that i have shaved to much, do you think that i can pull or stretch my unit?
i thought about it but i just didn't want to accidently tear my delicate system. What are your thoughts? Otherwise, i have to do what i did with the courve and wait until my hair grow back in those particular locations.
it isn't all that bad, but as you probably know with us wearers, i can blow something out of proportion but this is still real that i have cut too much, but at least i had plan B and i realized what i did wrong and i just have to now wait for my natural hair in those spaces to grow back, which can be weeks from now!

Hi Donald,
I just did a search using the word stretch and found this:
I always make sure my hairpieces are just a tiny bit too small for my coverage area so that I can stretch them to fit as I put them on, a little at a time. Maybe a quarter inch too small all the way around.
When I put it on, I start by applying a very small area in the front and center on my forehead, I stretch it a little, then tack it down, stretch, tack, etc until the whole thing is on. No wrinkles can possibly form that way.
I hope this helps.
hi donald..
i think in some ways a smaller piece is better ..if its stretched it will be tighter on your had and more undetectable..
from my experience a piece that is the exact fit of your balding area is slightly too big
so your system can be stretched on to the skin to cover it..thats no problem
i order pieces that are 0.5 cm less than my balding area for a flusher fit
