  • tape no holding after shampoo

I have been having problems with my unit staying tight for more than  1 week. I use red liner tape, with super tape. After one shampoo, it then becomes loose in the back,, any Cryingidea

Hi Flying.  It's probably because you are shampooing.  I just wet my hair in the shower and put on a leave-in conditioner after that.  Some times I use a shower cap in the shower and then spray my hair damp with water and add a fresh smelling leave-in conditioner.  You really don't need to shampoo, unless you have a lot of build up of hair products.  I'm getting to the point where I try to shampoo only for a re-attatch.  Also, make sure your scalp is clean shaven and prepared properly.  Some times it gets loose just from your hair growing and makes the unit lift. Hope this helps a little.  Smile

    Hi Flying,

I agree with Dana.  It is important that the scalp be clean because that can cause your unit to lift.  Growing hair will also cause it to lift.

    Hi Flyingfree--

Here's a recent thread that might be of interest to you where others are discussing solutions to this same problem. http://www.hairdirect.com/community/forums/thread/17349.aspx  I prefer to shampoo every three days, soak and condition every day and I don't have a problem with lifting in the back, however, I do not wear a full cap. Many people have mentioned that lifting at the nape is a problem and I would assume that it has to do with movement of your skin there. On the rest of your skull your skin doesn't move much.

I run a small brush with glue around the top and back of my scalp let it dry completely then apply unit...the glue makes it really stay on...also I use a scrub(swiss formual apricot scrub) on my scalp to remove all dead skin and get it sqeaky clean before applying the unit..it really helps me. I also use red liner tape and blue tape on my units, its the best for me....I hope this was of help....Louise

Have others used both red liner tape and blue (or super) tape together?  This is a new one for me.  The only time I've used the red liner tape was when I used glue with it.  Now I just use the super tape alone.  Am I missing something?

Yes. The idea is that the red liner tape does not break down as easily as the supertape so it's easier to clean off of the poly edge. You only use red liner tape with the poly edge. Red liner tape does not stick to lace.
