    Hello

HD can rush you a remake so dont panic it will come faster.

I have had tons of systems and if im honest they have alway almost been identical so as already said its not a rule its just a bump in the road.

You will be fine, call them they will do it today, dont reply on them noticing one of many many posts.

    James -

I hope by now that you have either called your Hair Tech or sent an email to them.  They are very responsive if you contact them directly, rather than post on a message board.  Also consider that they likely don't know your true identity ... so you have to help them here.  Having said that, they do read the message board and respond, but there are many posts per day.

If you have contacted them by phone or email, that is truly your best options.

On another note, most of my systems are very close to identical.  They will NEVER be 100% identical, due to the human construction aspect, but there shouldn't be significant differences like you described.  Sounds to me like an honest mistake - could be someone else's system, who knows.  Either way, HD will correct the issue.

I noticed you replied to my post.  I have contacted them but they are very slow at responding.  I returned my unit but 7 days later it still sits somewhere unattended.  I know the sale is being blamed for things on their end and I am sympathetic to that.  But so far they are 1 for 2 on my satisfaction scale.  This post was just another attempt to at least feel that something was being done.  So far, zilch.

this is not intended to be a (bad)rap on hd, but they have managed to go (up) on their cost's while the other 2 major hair by mail web sites have gone down in price, without any problem's such as this

Hi Bosox. I truly enjoy your posts and am glad you are on this forum.

Just a thought, but quite possibly the reason HD is a little more costly than some of their competitors is because they are a much larger organization than the others and put a lot of money back into the business in order to provide a high quality product and generate high quality information that allows folks to use their website and forum free of charge, even if they don't buy hair from HD.

The HD website alone is more comprehensive and helpful than any other hair site I've seen. I know from my own experience that compiling high quality content, high quality photography and videos, bug-free website programming, and design and maintenance for a website alone isn't cheap. Many of us rely on this site for product reviews, how-to videos, advice, etc. Also HD has developed internal automated systems from the ground up that other hair companies do not have in place and can only try to emulate. HD has taken major steps to ensure that their company remains cutting edge and ahead of the curve so that we always have the latest product advances and technology available to us. As a business owner, I try to look at ALL aspects of running a business, not just the cost of the end product.

HD is not perfect, no, but they are real people trying to make a real difference. They are selling hand made custom products that vary from piece to piece and there will be variation in the product. Also, they are serving thousands of clients (proof of their good product and service) and sometimes they can't get back to us as quickly as we would like. These issues are constantly being addressed and they want us to bring it to their attention so they can address these issues as they arise. Though the cost may not be as low as their competitors, I am still saving THOUSANDS of dollars a year in hair systems (about $5K in savings last year) and service and am working with a company that has a great guarantee. I've sent a couple of units back that weren't to my liking, with no hassle whatsoever.

I have a hunch that although there are quality and service issues from time to time, the rate of these problems cannot be very high or HD would not be one of the leading hair replacement companies in the business. I myself prefer to pay a little more for the guarantee alone (it's kind of like insurance) and for a company that shows exemplary professionalism when compared to other companies in the industry.

That's my take on it. Still I wish there were no problems, but they too are only human after all.

    Hi James,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with the stock units that you have ordered from us. I have pulled your file to familiarize myself with your history, and it looks as though there were requested changes made to the second stock unit ordered.

The size of the base was increased and the frontal design was changed to a #2. The first stock was ordered with a standard frontal design which is between a #1 and a #2. When a base size change is requested, it can affect the way that the unit will then fit.

The hair color of both orders was the same (720T) but, there can be variances in the tonal value of stocks. Meaning that some can have a warm tone and others can have more of an ashy tone.

All stock units come with an average density of 80-90% medium light. The units that you ordered were placed with the request to have them thinned to a much lighter density. Unfortunately, when a unit is thinned it can also have variances depending on the tech that thins the unit. We try to keep things as standardized as possible but, it is not always possible when dealing with "emergency" stock units.

Stock units are not made with "transitional density" fronts. They are very average...not customized at all and are meant for emergency purposes to help get clients through to their next custom unit.

I know that these are probably not the answers that you were looking for but, I wanted to make sure that you were as informed as possible about stock units. It really sounds like a custom unit would be your best bet to get the unit that you are looking for. That way everything will be customized to your specific needs and wants.

If you are still feeling frustrated, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the techs here at HD. We are all here to help you and if you're happy then we're happy :)

Thanks for looking into this Mary.  I have spoken to you on the phone in the past and you have been extremely helpful.

However I didn't request a change in the frontal design, only to add 1/4" to the sides to cover a little scalp area that showed.

My first "stock" unit is perfect so it CAN be done.  As far as the density, this one looks like a rug, not hair.

Somewhere isn't there a sample of the hair from the first unit that someone could look at and see that the second unit was a different tone?  These are things that could be done beforehand.  As far as "emergency" unit goes, no one mentioned that term to me ever....they were touted as just as good as a custom one providing I fit the stock size guidelines, which I do.  I plan to get a custom unit in December but, not having deep pockets, cannot be getting a unit monthly like some do.  which seems like overkill to me because my first unit is like new after 2 months.

How about a 3 month plan for a year with a good discount for those who feel that would be sufficient?

    Azphoto,

HD does have a 3 per year Standing Order Program.  Your systems would be $424.00 each and you would make monthly payments of $109.24 which will include shipping.  You would recieve 1 system every 4 months.
