Trishie,
ST doesn't leave any goo on my scalp. I have a full cap lace unit, so removing the ST has to be done in 2-inch stages to avoid any goo in the system. Works like a charm, tho, and no goo! SuperTape is the best bond going, IMHO, and I've tried them all!

What a creepy kid!!! Sorry but this is just SO insensitive. Maybe he's genuinely interested, but somehow, I doubt it is anything more than adolescent behavior.
We are not oddities, sweetie... We are women with a medical disorder. Guess maybe you would ask a person with a prosthetic leg if they wanted it cut off? It's pretty much the same thing.
The women who come here are dealing with a big loss to their self esteem as well as how others see them. We get enough stares and questions in the real world without seeing that stuff here too.
If you are genuinely curious, perhaps you should work on your wording and tell us WHY other than "never seen that before"...
If your mother had no hair, cried and felt ugly every day, you might see it differently. Try looking at it from that angle and see if you get how insensitive you have been.
That's all. Ladies, sorry to be upset, but this kind of thinking really annoys me :)
Have a beautiful day all
I haven't visited the site in a long time, but just saw this and wanted to respond for the sake of all those women out there who may have similar questions/curiosity about female hair loss. I have a combo of hereditary hair loss and an autoimmune disease that exacerbates it. Like others, I'm not completely bald, but my hair was extremely thin and stringy and took LOTS of time just to make it look decent enough to go out in public, but never to look "good." About 10 months ago, I started wearing hair. I do currently go through a specialty salon, because I'm not confident enough about my own skills to do it myself. They shave the top 1/2 of my head and my unit is a poly-based partial cap. I have some of my own hair on the sides and back, but not across the front. At first I kept my real bangs across the front, but felt that they didn't blend well with the unit, so now I shave the front and just have bangs from my unit. I love my "fake" hair and wish I had known about the options and done it years ago. I have better hair now than I ever have before in my life and it's much easier and quicker to style. I'm a 41-year-old mom and felt I was just too young to resign myself to having the hair of a 75-year-old man! If you're a woman dealing with hair loss or balding, you're not alone! By virtue of the women who write in on this site, I think it must be more common than the general public would ever guess. Wearing hair has definitely saved my self-esteem and feelings of womanliness.
Man...it really is so comforting to know that other girls are going through this, too.
I'm not even close to bald yet, but my hair has been thinning for 3 years. My part has widened pretty substantially and my hairline has receded a bit.
