    Hi All

I just received my 2 HD24 units on the sop and they are not right.I asked for 100% density with the first cm at the front 75% density. They have come 75% or maybe less all over including the perimeter and when i put it on my head without tape it does look ok,however when i put the proflex tape around the perimeter,it shows through as the perimeter hair is so thin.I use glue at the front but im unsure about using it all the way round. Before i start complaining to hd i want to see if i can do anything. For people that use very light density HD24'S ,can you tell me what you do on the perimeter to stop it showing.Even on the light densitys i always thought that the density was a bit higher around the perimeter but maybe im wrong. If i can do something please let me know.

    Thanks

Hey DB - sorry the units weren't what you expected. Your hair tech is Carol but she's off today so I'll have her get on Monday and hopefully provide some insight/advice.

I am curious about what others have to say. Essentially, it seems like you're asking about the shine or "glossy" look of the tape showing through your hair since it's a lighter density.

Bill uses ProFlex on his units and also orders very light density, one trick he showed me awhile ago to reduce shine from tape is simply tapping or pushing down with your finger through the hair over the parts where the tape is.

Your fingers contain natural oils and dirt so pressing them against any shiny parts will dull the reflectivness a bit. Just like touching your shiny new car after washing will dull the look and gleam of the paint. Wink [;)]

Also, I have heard others on our message board recommend just a tiny bit of baby powder to reduce shine.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi DBENNETT,

Actually there are a few things that you can try to help reduce the shine from the tape.

The first thing that you can try is to roll your fingers across the frontal area with firm pressure. This will put the imprint of your finger prints into the tape as well as some of the hair will stick to the tape. To loosen the hair that gets stuck to the tape all you need to do is free it up with the tooth of a comb.

If this little trick does not work for you, then you can always send the units in for a hair add. Contact your hair tech and see what she suggests for you to do.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance to you.Wink [;)]

    Hi Brandon and Mary

Thanks for the advice.I'll try the finger treatment and the powder and see what happens.I'll contact Carol and let her know how it went.

The units do look very natural with the lighter density, it is just the perimeter that is the problem. If the finger treatment and powder doesn't work then maybe putting more hair in the perimeter is the answer.

    Thanks again

I use pro-flex; Very light density in front and extra light in back. To reduce the shine I usually press the unit down with my fingers then I shower to get me all my hair wet so when I style it will be even. Usually the shine is very minimal after that and by the next day the sine is totally gone. Also, when you apply the pro-flex tape be sure to apply it about 1/16 of an inch from the edge. That way the edge of the tape will not be exposed. If you are new to Pro-flex don't expect to get it right the first time. Once you get the unit installed properly and the shine reduced you will find that the75% density looks more natural than 100%. Sometimes you have to trust the way HD makes their hair.

    DB,

Good morning, I see you are asking our customers for their imput but I wanted to let you know I am here to help. I just want to let you know that you can use the liquid adhesive around the entire perimeter. The other thing you can do is try to take a little of the shine out of the Pro Flex until it breaks down. You can try pushing your finger tip into it and the oil on your finger will cut the shine, or you can try putting just a little face powder on you finger and using that to cut the shine. I hope this helps.
