I have been wearing hair for 2 1/2 years. I was doing well using hard bond, got 4 week hold, went to my stylist every 4 weeks, serviced re apply good to go for 4 more weeks, did this for almost 2 years, could swim, wash my hair daily, work out, no problems, then I developed a latex allergy and could not use the red tape any longer. to make a long story short, it has been 7 long months of trial and error. I have tried NX Gen effects white glue with 2 days of hold before having to remove. I have tried geobond, or pro-flex with 4days until having to remove do to itching, if I struggle through the itch I get @ 8 days of hold until having to remove. I have tried blue tape with one day of hold. I have tried the hard bond with other tapes, but the tape doesn't seem to hold to the hair. the most recent trial was super tape and using the nx gen effects 1/8 inch in the front for a good frontal hair line. the front lifted in 3 days and then I started itching after 4 days and had to remove the whole unit. my scalp was minorly irritated where I had used the super tape. I use the process of cleaning the system and my scalp as described on this site and I use 3 coats of scalp protector with each attachment. my sytem is lace front with poly strip on sides and back.
I really want to find something that I apply once a month, go to my stylist every 4 weeks, service and off I go again. I am a mom, wife, nurse and extremely active person with my church and volunteer agencies. I don't have the time or patience for this.
It has gotten to the point where I am ready to just let my hair grow out again and deal with the extremely thinning hair. the reason I went to wearing hair is that I had patients asking me when my chemo treatments would be over, they thought I had cancer!
I just want to look on the outside the same as i feel on the inside. I am a very passionate, person who has lots of energy and loves the Lord and others with all I have.

I am so sorry to hear of the troubles that you have had with bonding (or lack of) and the adhesives. What i can tell you is that everyones body chemistry will react differently to adhesives then the next person and this trial and error period can be very frustrating, Babe with a mane has a blog on the board and goes into great detail of how she attaches and takes care of her system, it might be very benifitcal for you to read what she has blogged about. Also you have to make sure that after you clean your scalp and your units that there is absolutly no residue or solivent left behind. If there is so much a speck of it left behind it will cause your unit to lift up and your adhesives will not want to stay attached. And since you are having some irritation with some tapes/adhesives, you might want to go to your doctor to see what you are reacting to. We do have the MSDS sheets for the adhesives that we carry so if you should ever want to know what is in the adhesives that you are using, you can always contact us to find out.
