size of hairpiece

  • size of hairpiece

I started to wear the hairpiece less than a month ago. The hairTech used 1" tape for the back hair, half of the tape was attached to my real hair and the half was attached to the scalp. Is this hairpiece too big? I thought the tape should be attached only to the scalp?

    Thanks.

    Another question.

I am thinking to try the supertape. My hairpiece is lace front, for the ploy part, should I attach the red tape to the unit first and then attach ST to the red tape?

     Thanks.

    Hi There David,

For #1 question, first of all,  are you doing the work yourself?  If so and you have a slightly imperfect fit, you could always buzz away that part of your biological hair that is overlapped by your system.

With the system already in place and attached, you can mark the bio hair to be cut off a couple of ways:

    1. Mark on your scalp with an eyebrow pencil dark enough so you know where to cut up to with your electric cutter, or
    2. Use the electric cutter to make a "line" into your hair by running it straight-on into your bio hair, again just below the system.
Then just buzz down that hair and you should have a near perfect fit.

    Thanks Brian,

A hairTech helped me to make the template. When the first time she put the hairpiece on, she told me that she  always made it a little bigger and glued the back on the real hair. I don't know why. I will go to see her in two weeks but I took the hairpiece off yesterday night by myself because it has been on my head three weeks and I felt very uncomfortable. I found a lot of sticky glue on my hair which caused me uncomfortable. When I put it back, I felt that half of the tape on my real hair.

I am going to order the next one, should I order a smaller one? Or order the same size and shave my hair in order to fit the hairpiece?

Three weeks ... wow that's long.  I could never go that long, 7 days max.

Anyhoo,  the overlap issue, if it's a concern for you I would personally just shave down that area to make this current system and your future ones sit in place better.  Then it is more like a puzzle piece fitting into position.

Good post David, and its one that everyone has wondered about. Whilest some will say go 1/8"smaller than the balding area that will work for guys whos hair has stopped reseeding.

With me, my hair has reseeded back about 1/2 inch more since being with HD, and being only 41 im hoping that its stopped now. If I would have realised this, I would have compensated with a larger template down the back.

In your case I would shave the area that needs to come off and a nice smooth shave at that.

If you noticed your hair came on a plastic base, this is the best thing that ever came with the hair, when its sitting on the plastic base you can mark on the underside the exact shape of the hair, then cut it out.

This gives you a template and you can use this to mark the exact area that needs to be shaved. You can place it on your hair in the correct position and use the clippers on your shaver.

With the long term bonds they are handy because you dont have to worry about all the hassle about cleaning up, and reapplying it on your head again. Weekly is good to maintain that ultra natural hairline and keep up the maintenance on the hair. The front hairline loves to attract the dirt and dust that just loves to stick to the adhesive under.

If its not HairDirect on top then its just not worth it.
