Hair replacement systems custom-made anddelivered to your door. 100% guaranteed!
I got my fitting kit yesterday and even though I think I've got most of it figured out, I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out my hair color.
Here's the thing...I sported a shaved head not long before I decided to do HD, so I had not thought to let my hair grow back out until about two/three weeks prior to ordering my kit. Once I opened the kit, I tried to do it all myself, but soon realized that my hair was too short for me to get a good read on the color (and a good match), and since my hair is too short to send in a sample when returning my kit, I asked my very close friend to help me. Although she has found a good match (she said it's a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10), I was wondering if there is a "fail safe" to the color issue? How close to my own hair color does the system have to be to work (where it's not obvious that what's sitting on the top of my head is not my own hair)? If I get my hair system and it turns out to be not quite the right color for me, what's the best solution?
Any replies/help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Especially from people who may have had color issues themselves.
RCLAR,
In regards to your post; the closer you can get to your own natural hair, the better. Obviously, if you know your natural hair is a dark brown, you don't want to pick a medium blonde. Are you a full cap? One thing you can do is hold the color ring to your eyebrows and match it that way, just make sure to do one shade lighter. This will probably be the best way for you to find your match.
If you get your system back and you don't like the color, send it back to us within 30 days and we will fix the color up for you.
I hoped I helped you, if there is more that I can do for you, please let me know.

Hi Bretina, thank you for your response.
As I am completely new to these terms, does "full cap" refer to a system that covers your entire head? If so, that is not what I will be ordering. I have hair on the sides and in the back that will be fully exposed when I put my system on (my system will cover my crown and portions of the upper back area). It's just hard for me to tell the color right now as it's not very long yet.
The color my friend picked out for me, does seem to be pretty close to my natural hair color, if only a little bit lighter , which I understand is the best way do it anyway as a darker color might not look natural when blended with your own hair on the sides and the back. I feel pretty confident about the color, but I just want to make sure that there's a recourse should it not feel right.
Hi RCLAR,
I think you're right. It's always best to go a little lighter as growing hair has a tendency to be lighter on top as well. The good news is that the blending techniques used by HD will accommodate subtle color variations as the system blends gradually into your growing hair.
Welcome aboard!

Hi Bob! Thanks for the nice welcome and for your words of wisdom, they definitely made me feel better about my choice. And I must say that your hair looks great! Every time I see a member on here and I see the results they've gotten with HD, it always make me more excited about getting my own system.
Thanks again!
HI RCLAR
When you return your kit, your hair tech will call you and go over all the information before she ever places the order. At that time if you are still not certain of the color ask your tech to blend a little bit of another color in if you want it a little lighter or a little darker. That's the nice thing about doing a custom unit. We can blend colors to make it just right for you.
HD Hair Tech
In my opinion, I would what you just asked. Do a shade lighter with a little bit of a blend of the darker color. That is one thing that you and your tech will go over when she gets it. Always remember that usually your eyebrow color is going to be a little darker than your natural color on your head. So I would do a blend to make it look a little more natural.
For SOP (Standing Order Program) you would be ordered 1 system every 4 months. So you would be ordered 3 systems in one year. You can get all three sent at once, but you would have to pay the whole year in advance. I usually don't suggest that.
We do it this way because you can make changes if need be.

Let me just throw my 2 cents in about hair color. I agree with what the hair techs are advising you to do about the color issue. I believe that when you have to match your hair color, it must be right on the money or a blend of colors that will somehow blend in well with your hair color. The primary problem is in bright sunlight ... when the mid day sun hits your hair any difference between your real hair color and your replacement will show up BIG TIME!. If possible, take a look at a medium brown head of hair indoors under artificial light and then go outside under the sunlight and you'll see a different shade because more of the highlights will reflect the intense sunlight. The match between your hair and the replacement will be that much more obvious under sunlight also. When I first began wearing hair, I was walking up to a building with a mirrored front door. When I took a look at myself, my hair piece looked so much more red than it did inside. Sure enough, the color was wrong and it showed. I am now very anal about the right color match and I often ask those who know me well enough to give me a heads up if they notice any color difference.
As for the SOP, it's a great program. Although I get 2 every 4 months, I'd suggest on your first order to send back both pieces (if you get 2) and have HD color correct them if necessary before you wear them. It may delay your new head of hair a week or two but its worth it. Best to you!!
