taking the plunge

I was just reading through some old posts (great info, by the way) and a few addressed how to make the transition to wearing hair after having thinning hair (or none at all).  Besides growing a beard and shaving it off the day you get your new hair (works great for men, but kinda hard on us ladies!) I thought I'd share my transition.

I decided to stop coloring my hair to see what color it would be after several years. Low and behold, the entire front half was "silver" (it looked gray to me, but my mother liked it).  I also let it grow out, lengthwise, a little longer than usual.  When I ordered my new hair, I selected a rich chestnut brown, which is the color I should have been born with had the gods been kind to me.  So, when the day came for the new hair system, I got a new cut, color and style (not to mention the new hair), and everyone just thought that's all I did!  It was a dramatic change, but it looked natural and made me look at least 10 years younger.  It was the best thing I've ever done for myself.  Now, most people don't even remember me with that old 'do.  I don't either.

I've just ordered my new unit from HD.  The fitting kit was so easy, and the removal and  reattachment of my current unit was just not that hard.  Hope that helps anyone out there that might be thinking of taking the plunge.  I'm sure glad I did!Big Smile

Hi Ladyinred.  Smart idea that you had.  When I got my first hair system and my hair was fuller, I just told everybody I had gotten a perm.  I truly don't believe anybody thought anything different.  I'm so glad that it worked out for you!!

    Julie and Blondie,

Thanks for your kind words. I just received my new hair (first one from HD) yesterday, and I can't wait to try it! It looks great, but I think i might have to get a trim.  For "just out of the box", it looks great!  I have high hopes and know that I can rely on your expertise and all the positive info from others in the community!

I'll keep you posted when I can make the switch.  Have a great day!

Please do keep us posted.  I trim my own hair now.  As a matter of fact, I cut my own bangs too.  I've learned to do everything myself but it took almost 2 years for me to reach this point.  It can only get better Lady in Red.

    Thanks for your encouragement!

Do you wear a full cap system?  I just tried on my new unit (not going to attach it yet, needs a cut) and it feels so different from my usual one.

If you wear a full cap system, do you shave your entire head?

It just seems like so much more hair than I'm used to.  The quality seems really good, the hair is very soft and fine.  But I look like a red headed Veronica Lake (not that that's a bad thing....just not me) when I tried it on.

    Any comments ladies?

    Thanks,

    Lady in Red

    Hi LadyinRed,

Usually some of our lady customers don't shave their whole head. Some use integrations, other will just shave the perimeter of where they will be bonding. What kind of system did you order?  If you don't like the color at all, don't hesitate to send it back to us and we can fix it up for you.
