Hi rlc,
I would not take a risk with the hard bond. There are carcinogens in the hard bond and there is nothing worth risking the health of your baby.

RLC,
Lisa is right. I have actually addressed this question on behalf of a couple of other hairwearers. I have access to some outstanding OB-GYN researchers. Please do NOT consider this medical advice on any level, but feel free to print this information out and take it to your doctor and have a long talk with her/him.
As you know, when wearing hair, we are exposed to what can be some pretty nasty chemicals, acetone, petroleum distillates used for dissolving adhesives, anhydrous alcohol, etc. Keeping in mind that the skin is an organ that absorbs everything that touches it to some extent, we came to the conclusion that wearing hair before and during pregnancy isn't a problem; it's the cleaning part that is tricky. Also, after you seal the knots on your unit, you will need to wash it and dry it again before applying it and use the Adjust-A-Bond sparingly.
I'm 54 and on hormone replacement therapy and so had a long talk with my GYN doc. I've actually developed a routine that gives me minimal exposure (timewise) to the chemicals I use during my de- and re-: acetone, alcohol, GooGone and Lace Release and TDI Knot Sealer. I also do my de- and re- in a very well ventilated area. Nevertheless, I don't do it when the g-kids are around and, if I was considering pregnancy, I would actually have my stylist do the cleaning and knot sealing process. I use SuperTape for my bond and the docs don't seem to feel that is a problem. The glues are another matter, though.
Bottom line: You absolutely, definitely MUST sit down with your OB-GYN doc and have a long talk. You will probably have to find someone who can take care of the cleaning process and you will probably have to reconsider your bonding method. In addition, the docs seemed to think that the best idea was to have someone else do the cleaning, stay away from the glues, use tape if possible and avoid exposure to the chemicals for at least three months before trying to get pregnant and at least during the first trimester. In my mind, if it were moi, I'd be having someone else do the cleaning routine, or better yet, change my unit to one with a poly edge and use the red liner tape. I might not get as good a bond, but I wouldn't have to use heavy duty chemicals, either. The chemicals can be relatively safe with minimal exposure, but it's just too risky when one has a passenger on board.

Hairlady-thanks for the info. I just found out that i am pregnant (yeah!) and happened to come across this post. I never really gave it much thought before reading this. Here's the thing...I don't have anyone locally that could clean my piece for me. I use Supertape. In your opinion (I realize you're not giving me medical advice) do you think that if I clean my piece with a minimal amount of adhesive remover (I use the HD brand) and then apply Supertape that this will be ok? It's not my regular routine but I think that I can get away with it for 9 months. I would ask my obgyn but I really don't think he'll get it.

KEEPING IN MIND THAT THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE:
Since you use SuperTape, I'd advise the mirror slide for cleaning if your unit is lace. If you are going to be using ANY chemical to remove adhesive and/or knot sealer, get a very good respirator (contact the lab at your local hospital and see what they use for pregnant lab techs) and be sure to get gloves that will stand up to acetone and petroleum distillates. Be sure to work in a very well ventilated area. After you have applied your knot sealer and it is dry, wash the piece again, dry it, apply the tape and use the Adjust-A-Bond sparingly, i.e. only enough to quickly position your unit. Be sure that you drink plenty of fluids during and after to keep your system well flushed.
CAUTION IN THE STRONGEST TERMS: Please, please talk with your doc ASAP. Believe me, he's probably much more on top of the situation than you might think.
Congratulations on the newest addition to your family.

Here is a link for search results for the mirror slide. Plenty of great information there.
I have watched a few videos about the mirror slide. It's a great idea! Who knew it could be that easy?!
