Cable that's a shame but I think we all want to give up from time to time.

Sleep on it a few days perhaps you need to talk with someone new.

Will you please tell us what was wrong with the last two units you received?  Sorry to see you go.
  • Re: going back to the hat

Cyn, my first one, like I said , was most likly my fault being a newbie to the  hair scene. I had ordered one that had only a 3 month life span ( which my hair tech at the time didnt tell me ) and me being new didnt take care of it properly. The 2nd was a  off-the-shelf unit  they had sent me to help me have at least something till my next SOP came in. Sorry to say it had been in the warehouse for ages and was a bit brittle and that hair just broke off left and right. NOW, this one that I have now actually seems to be the one thats holding up ( or I've learned to take better care of it or a bit of both ) They had sent me one from my old SOP and the style is way off amd so is the length ( hmmmmmm.... I wonder how Scooter my dog would look in it, I may have to send a pic of her with it on LOL ) I will admit I was frustrated and tired and shouldnt have said I'm going to call it quits. Sometimes  it just takes some time to get things the way you want them and patience isnt one of my best qualities. My hairtech now, Mary deserves a medal for having to tolerate me and actually is a really great hairtech and honestly cares about her clients and the product. She has really bent over backwards to get me on trac and I'm VERY happy to have her as my hairtech. Cyn I owe you peeps and HD an apology for speaking before I think things throughly thru. I'm  99% sure my next two units will be exaclty what I want and Mary said she will have them inspected prior to being shipped but that also has it's drawbacks that if there is something wrong to where they have to be sent back I will have to wait but thats a minor setback compared to NOT getting what I want. So  there it is in a nutshell and hope it helps you some.

sorry to hear that...I have been with other companies and I have had the best luck with HD, the tech's are alot of help and the hair, well lets remember each piece is going to be alittle different, they do come from different hair donors...so give alittle...stop being so hard on yourself.
  • Re: going back to the hat

I seem to just have bad luck with hair units Tongue Tied [:S] . I just washed this one and it lost a LOT of hair but I'm going to keep at it for a while With all the shampoos, conditioners , adheasive removers, lace release. and other gooos and the time it takes to clean and maintain them, with all the money I spend I could be driving Rolls, or at least a BMW. It;s really starting to become more trouble than it's worth. You wash it, then you have to get the tangles out ( with a detangler) while your trying to untangle it your pulling gobs of hair out . then your blow drying it and you have to use a brush for that and your still pulling hair out so by the time your done you dont have much left to work with.  I've got two more comming but after that I think I'll call; to SOP quits and only wear it to church on Sundays.Big Smile [:D] Should last at least a year that way. Having hair is nice but all the upkeep is becoming a royal pain. I'm not saying HD is doing anything wrong but for me it's a major hassel. I'm going to give it a few more months just to say I at least gave it a good tryConfused [8-)]

  • Re: going back to the hat

Wish I could  help...I have been wearing a unit for 4 years and cant imagine life ever again without my hair...Yes I am female, I once again took my piece off today. I used the remover took it off, then sprayed the remover on the proflex tape, shaved my head, showered and then when I got down the tape just came right off the unit. Then washing the unit put it in the water hair up to you, wash it like petting a puppy, very gentle, rinse and repeat, so on and so on, this took me about 1 hour total. Tell me more where your real problem area is...
  • Re: going back to the hat

I normaly use the glue but this time I figured I'd try the tape. I sprayed on the lace release and waited till it loosed up up then set it in the  adheasive remover for an hour while I showerd and  got dressed. the tape was still on there stuck on like with super glue ( maybe I should try that, super glue I mean ) tried soaking it longer with no results, the tape was on there good. tried to pick it off but it just pulled the hair tru the unit so I gave up, the tape is still on there but from here on out I'll stick

( no pun intened ) with the glue. It last longer and is easier to clean off. I have no problems when I was it still on but when I take it off  to clean it, it's a major operation. If I can ever find a place that can offer and guarentee that a unit would stay on for a month and I could toss it at the end of the monthy for a new one I would probably go for it. I know HD has there disposiable units but I doubt they would stay on for a month and I doubt especially they would last that long. Thanks for your help an concern I really do appreciate it .

  • Re: going back to the hat

Gary, the longer you leave the tape on the harder it will be to get off. Are you using red tape as a liner? That will make it come off alot easier. I was leaving mine on for 4 to 6 weeks with the adhesive, but I had to go to a salon and it was pricey to have the service done. I didnt want to mess with the glue, so I use proflex tape over red liner, do you have someone style it and blend it after you get a new unit? It is very hard for anyone to style and blend your hair without it right there infront of them. HD does a great job but they can only go by what they have in front of them. trying to help, dont give up, we who like looking better with hair are behind you...oh yea bald women, even thinning hair on women sucks.

    Hi Gary the Cable Guy,

I can really relate to you not wanting to continue.  I have been doing this now for 7 years or more and I want to give up almost everyday.  It is a pain and the tangles, snarls, glue, tape, conditioners etc. can really get on your nerves.  I am a female and I don't know if I should just stop.  I cannot do anything I enjoy anymore since I have been wearing these things.  I can't swim anymore, because I can't get it wet.  I don't care what anyone says, YOU CANNOT SWIM WITH A SYSTEM ON YOUR HEAD.  I am petrified of wind for fear of anyone seeing the system.  I am always worried about it being visible.  I think it is extremely visible, but everyone who knows assures me that it looks fine.  I , of course, do not believe them.  It just seems that my quality of life has been affected.  And, I am not rich.  It's expensive.

But then on the flip side, I don't know how I will feel without hair.  Being a female with hardly any hair is very, very hard.  Every where you turn there are beautiful women with gorgeous hair.  Hair is a BIG focal point for woman. What kind of life would I have then.  Would I be miserable - I don't know.  I just have a feeling this is going to be an ongoing struggle and I will put up with it for now, but I think I am going to reach a boiling point and just not care anymore.

    Gary,

If I may make a couple of suggestions here... I know you are fed up with the hair thing, but pls give it a last try before giving up.

First of all, from what I undestand, tangles and their removal is what makes your units lose a lot of hair. Do you comb the unit often to prevent tangling? Do you comb before washing? My hair tech from my previous company advised me to wash the unit from the inside out, and not while on the head, to prevent tangling.

Now to the tape removal: C-22 is the best solvent. Spray on and leave it for 30 min and try the mirror sliding method (don't forget the saran wrap!!!). It should leave the unit totally clean. The tape won't be coming off by itself, no matter how much solvent you use, you have to remove it.

    Kisses to Scooter!!

For the first time in my life, I'm not alone in this...

    Clarabell,

My heart goes out to you. This society is not conducive to women with little or no hair. Have you tried a different hair style that may look less visible? The first one I ordered part of the hairline was showing and very fake looking. From now on they will have bangs. I also ordered hair with medium and medium heavy density. My next one will be light density. Even though I am not real happy with the mono base I will order that because it lasts longer than the others. Cost is a major issue. Whatever you decide to do, good luck with it.
