  • Blue Lace Tape

I've tried a number of different bonding solutions, typically ended up using Super Tape or Proflex and then bonding the front edge with acrylic glue.  I was always concerned that with my density (between 70-75%) the tape would show.  You know what - it doesn't.

I use blue lace tape around the entire perimeter (I detach/attach weekly).  I get the edge of the tape right up against the leading edge of the unit.  The results are flawless!  Plus, I don't have to worry about the glue getting matted in my hair and the clean up is a LOT easier.

The lace tape is so thin that it's invisible between the scalp and hair unit.  Funny . . . only took me 10 years to figure this outConfused

Are you using the blue rolls?  I have trouble peeling that blue backing off that tape.

    Hi Azphoto,

I have heard that when you're working with tape, spraying a very small amount of Adjust-a-Bond on the tips of your fingers will help to keep the tape from sticking to them.

    Hope this helps!

This is certainly good timing.......I just spent a very frustrating morning de/reattaching my unit, using the super tape roll and front pieces.  YIKES!!!  I just could NOT get the backing off of the tape, no matter what I did.  I was in tears before it was all done.Crying  Not only that, I couldn NOT get the tape to stick to the lace front!!Angry  Guess what I did?  I slapped the tape onto my head and then attached!!Tongue Tied  I know this is not following protocol.....but no matter what I did I could not get the backing off the tape, or get it to stick to the lace.   WAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

OK, I'm better now.   Of course, I didn't get the tape on my scalp in the right position, so I had to dab a little glue on the front to keep it from flapping in the breeze.Wink

I'm going to order the blue lace tape and praying for a miracle.  I did try the Adjust a Bond on my fingers, and it helped.  Why can't there be an easier way?

Oh, and while I'm on a rantSuper Angry WHY CAN'T I GET THE ADHESIVE OFF OF MY SCALP/GROWING HAIR?????  I think it's premanently glommed onto my head.  I've tried Goo Gone, solvent, Goof Off, lace release, soap, Dawn, shampoo, facial scrub, axle grease and lard.  Nothing has worked (just kidding about the axle grease and lard, but it's a thought).  I've scrubbed, sanded and stopped short of an acid bath.  CAN ANYONE HELP ME, PLEASEConfused

ON A POSITIVE NOTE:  Using saran wrap (cling film) on the mirror before doing the mirror slide works like a charmBig Smile  You can also wrap some around your fingers and rub adhesive/tape/goo off the unit itself.  That's a keeperYes  I tried rubbing my head with it, but that didn't work too well.

Any and all suggestions gladly accepted.  You'd think after 1 1/2 years of doing this myself it would get easierEmbarrassed

     Sad

    Hi,

I use a tweezers to remove my backing. I just pick at a corner edge and it comes right up.

  • Re: Blue Lace Tape

I have the blue lace tabs and it is a LOT easier.  You might try those!

    Hi Lady in Red

After reading your post, I checked out the rolls of blue tape verses the strips or contours. You are right the roll is much harder to get started. I put the end of the one side on my hand and pressed securely. Then I bent back the corner on the blue side and worked until I got the corner loose.Yes it is frustrating.

My thought is once you get a roll started, always peel back a little more that you need so you always have a starter piece.Idea My preference would be the strips and contours, they are much easier to work with. Smile

Thanks, Cindy.  I haven't tried the blue lace yet, but I'm going to skip the roll and order the tabs.

That just reminded me of something......I won the Instant Win a few weeks ago (the prize was a pack of tape) and I never received it.  Can I ge the blue lace tabs?

    Hi LIR-

Except for red tape which I only use if I am wearing a unit with a poly edge, I only use tape contours. They are super easy to work with. I don't like working with the rolls.

Also, I use ReMove to clean my scalp. It works really well for me, but I don't leave my units on very long so maybe I don't get the same kind of buildup. Are you using Lace Release when you remove your unit? That my help keep the goo stuck on the tape and not on your head.Hmm

    Hi, Curly Sue;

Yes, I use Lace Release, but i've not heard of ReMove.  I'll check it out!  I'm also going to try the Blue Lace tape tabs.....

Right now I have my unit in the freezer, hoping the frozen goo will be easier to get off ;-)  (at least it's getting a respite from the heat we're having)Devil

    Here it is: http://www.hairdirect.com/store/Max-Remove-4Oz.aspx

It's organic, with no harsh chemicals. I like that part since I'm rubbing it into my head.Indifferent
