Shampoo, A Hair System's Worst Enemy

Wednesday, July 05, 2006 9:13 AM

All shampoo (even what we sell on our website) is extremely destructive to the hair in your hair system. The entire industry (again, including us) has been mostly ignorant to this fact until recently.

I'll spare you all the big scientific words and explain in laymen's terms. However, if anyone needs the scientific jargon that our chemists use, please email me. The problem is simple; it's almost embarrassing that no one ever realized it.

Each and every growing hair has its very own oil gland. This oil gland is called the sebaceous gland and continually produces oil. The hair is natures perfect wick, it continually wicks the oil all the way to the end of the hair shaft.

Walla! Huge discovery! This is natures perfect protective covering, protecting the hair from the damaging effects of the sun, salt, friction, not to mention all the hair chemicals that we are bombarded with everyday. And of course hair system hair doesn't have sebaceous glands to protect it.

To compound the matter, the hair in the system has been stripped of its cuticle layer. All shampoos are formulated with anionic detergents which cause severe damage to hair without nature's protective coating. When shampoo touches the hair system hair it's like rubbing salt onto raw abraded skin. If the hair could only talk, it would be screaming bloody murder!

We made this no brainer discovery about a year and a half ago and have been working on a non destructive shampoo ever since. All shampoos damage hair systems and cause the hair to become brittle and dried out. Hopefully within the next 90 to 120 days we'll have the brand new Hair Direct hydration shampoo available to our clients. Until then please use shampoo on your hair system as sparingly as possible.

Have a great hair day,

Bill
