Hello Everyone!
Wow...where should I start? It was a very active week in PA and I can't remember ever being so tired! Our schedule was more hectic than I could have imagined. I guess they wanted to get as much done as possible in order to give you all what you asked for.
Day 1 - Thursday - Drove two hours to the hotel and met with Hairlady in her room for ten minutes before heading to the gym. Watched as HL sweat...and sweat some more...then I jumped on the treadmill.
From there we drove 30 minutes to the recreation facility that housed the training pool. After we arrived, we were told that we weren't going to swim until after we played tennis and basketball...WHAT??? ME??? Basketball and tennis??? Oh boy. This was going to be really interesting. My first time with a tennis racket was truly fun and there was a lot of teasing and taunting from the crew as we tried to volley as much as we could!
Next it was on to the basketball court to "shoot some hoops". I suggested that HL and I play some H O R S E to get warmed up. It was very entertaining as she was "awarding" letters to me when I made a basket instead of the miss! I tried my best to imitate the Harlem Globetrotters as I ducked around HL and snuck the ball away from her as she dribbled...but I will admit that the only basket I believe they caught on film was hers! Congratulations HL! You're a real pro!
Around 2 we broke for lunch...thank goodness! Then, it was on to the pool! It was wonderful! Of course, it was very intimidating to put on a bathing suit and prance out to meet Bill Sr., Bill Jr., the crew and staff...yikes! But after my knees stopped knocking, we got right down to business.
Dive after dive, we splashed into the pool so that you could all see how the hair holds up in similar situations. I admit I was a bit disappointed that there was no high dive at the pool! From the start, we had been told that we couldn't use the dive platforms. Fortunately, I was able to speak with Karen, the manager of the facility, and by a stroke of good luck, I convinced her that she was doing a favor for all women who suffer with this challenge. Soooo...she let us use the platforms! Climbing up onto it was pretty scary as I had never done that before, but thankfully, Hairlady coached me thru it and I was able to get in some good dives for everyone!
The only hiccup we had was my "wardrobe malfunction"! That video segment better not show up ANYWHERE!!! tee hee hee! No bloopers with it either!
While we swam, HL and I devised a wickedly devious plan. We decided that since Bill had worked us so hard, he may need to "relax" in the pool with us. So, HL called him over to "check her hair"..and tugged on him a bit. He pulled away, so I had to "help" him in with a good shove on his behind! Oh my goodness!!!! You should have seen the shock on everyone's faces! Unfortunately, his PDA and cell phone didn't survive, but we did rescue his glasses from the bottom of the 11 ft. pool! He was a very good sport about it and laughed right along with us! I can tell you this, his hair held up just as well as ours did, but his shoes didn't fare nearly as well! I'm fairly certain that he now realizes just how ornery the two of us can be!
Next it was back to the hotel to dry off and change for the fan! Unfortunately, the huge fan that was rented for the occasion didn't have nearly the power we wanted. So Brandon decided to confiscate a convertible for us! Yes, a convertible!!!
I thought it was very kind of HL to volunteer to drive since I had been up and running since 4 am. What I didn't realize was that she was a racecar driver! She was going 80 MPH down the highway!!! I was laughing soooo hard that my hair kept flying into my mouth! Yes, we were very silly (and please know it wasn't very safe so do not practice the unsafe example we set!) I stood up in the convertible so that you could see how the hair would react! The camera crew was trying to keep up with Mrs. Speedracer and the other autos all around were trying to get closer in the hopes of becoming movie stars! It was all in all a pretty hilarious ride! If they had only known they were trying to be in a video for hair wearers!
After dinner, we decided to call it a night - I was tucked in around 11:30 - certainly not looking forward to the 5 o'clock wake up call!!! But, as I drifted off to sleep, I was very proud that HL and I had been able to show you in one day how we can lead a very normal and active life while wearing hair. After all, we had worked out in the gym, played tennis and basketball, we swam like fish and had even taken a "hairy" ride in a convertible! I smiled as I realized how much this footage would help others...and I even caught myself giggling out loud in my bed while recalling Bill's face as he burst through the water.. sputtering... with shock and laughter!
Hopefully, the pictures and videos will be added as soon as possible so that you can see how much fun we had!
Babe
We took the convertible out so that we could get shots and footage during very high wind conditions. The fan wouldn't get above about 6 mph. We successfully simulated wind speeds of 75-80 mph, about an F1 hurricaine. This means you can feel secure when out boating and, if you are a water racer, certainly you are secure up to 75 mph. Faster than that? Can't say and certainly don't want to try it. My street racing days are long over and I'm not planning on doing the Jack Bauer chase track any time soon.
Hey Babe,
That's a great story... Thanks for sharing!
Not born with hair, but I've got the intelligence to find it, the job to pay for it, the patience to "stick" it on just right, the will to make it work, the confidence to wear it boldly and the smile to wear under it!
