Does supertape already have bond in it to make it last longer? What is the difference between that and proflex?

  • Re: Supertape

SuperTape is just that, tape.  It has the most incredible tack I've ever found and I've been wearing hair for 40 years.  There is no goo, no mess and the bond was still going strong after 20 days.  The difference between ST and PF is the composition of the adhesive.

Can't say enough good things about SuperTape except that once you try it, you probably won't want to use anything else.

So do you have to use bond on  it or is it in the tape? What do  you do?
  • Re: Supertape

The ST is the bond.  It's double-sided tape.  No glue is required.

I agree with Hairlady except for one thing - the front hair line. I use PF no shine in front and ST on the sides top and back here’s why.  ST is a little thicker than PF so the front edge shows especially after a few days when dust gets under it. Then it has to be constantly cleaned and you still see a little edge. For me ST does not quite have the tack as PF in front and tends to have some lift after a few days. I think this is because I have very oily skin. PF no shine is better in front because it’s thinner, less detectable and has better tack for oily skin. Of course the down side of PF is that it melts down after a few weeks but I’m happy with a two week bond.

I tell you, Jonathan, I've been using Super Tape on part of my front hairline for more than a week now.  (Didn't want to use it across the entire hariline in case I didn't like it.)  It has been wonerful for me.  No lift, as I've been getting with all glues (even Ultrahold).  And I see nothing.  The hairline is sharp.  Moreover, when I run my hand through that part of the hairline, I truly feel nothing.

This stuff is wonderful and, as I say, I can hardly wait until HD begins offering it on the "disposable" units.  It's going to save me so much time in maintenance and upkeep.

    Hi Guys,

I bonded a week ago with Supertape, even across the hairline, I've had no problems with lifting at all. I wanted to do a test bond before my vacation. Sunday I leave for Hawaii, and believe me I'm going to put Supertape to the test, snorkeling, jet skiing, hot beaches, sweating out the alcohol from the day before, oops, did I say that Beer. So far Supertape rocks.

Okay, I haven't visited the forums in many months, I come back, and I hear everybody talking about this Supertape.   I've been using ProFlex Blue (by itself) since I started with HD, and was happy to be able to maintain a hold for 2 weeks.  For those who have used ProFlex Blue and are now using SuperTape, goo aside, which one holds longer for you?

    Welcome back!

I used the proflex and the ultrahold...

then when I found the supertape, I gave that a try...

Hands down, Supertape has a much longer hold for me!  That longer hold, in addition to the ease of cleanup, convenience, etc....

    Supertape wins by a mile!

the will to make it work,
the confidence to wear it boldly
and the smile to wear under it!

  • Re: Supertape

The thing I like about the Supertape is that, not only does it give a solid hold for several weeks, but it is invisible (at least to me) at the front hairline.
  • Re: Supertape

Question, has anyone using tape tried to put the tape on their head first rather than the piece? I figured especially if you have an all lace piece it might work out easier.

  • Re: Supertape

I've tried that, Mike.  It works well, but only if you are very careful in placing the hairpiece on your scalp after you've applied the tape to the front part of the scalp.  If the tape extends beyond the lace, a plastic-looking strip appears on your forehead and, in the wrong light, gives you away.  I had to re-do mine, which I did, and it looks great right now.
